When I can't sleep, I picture my life in five-ten-fifteen years. Who will be in it, where I will live, what I will do, what changes I will have gone through, how the world will be different. I think about these things and sometimes it helps me sleep, and sometimes not. After a while though I just emotionally exhaust myself and end up falling asleep

or read until i pass out. but this can be tricky, because you have to choose something that's not too interesting to keep you up, but not so boring you don't want to read it.
