Ha, I don't know. We saw her at a Christian college so I think she went out of her way not to swear and was wearing this really long, modest dress. At the end, she and Jonathan Rice sang this big huge gospel song about takin' Jesus down to the river or something. It was really good, don't get me wrong. Just not really what I expected from her. I think that's just her "style" now.. ?

Ah ok. It'll be my first time seeing her in concert so I'm pretty psyched. Here's hoping it's a good one.

in an npr interview jenny says this about the numerous references to god:
"I didn't intend to write a bunch of songs about God," she says. "I was surprised when I had all of the songs completed and there were so many God references throughout. I guess that's what happens when you're about to turn 30... I think being broken-hearted is not the only thing you want to sing about."

well, there's that.

I totally understand her not wanting to sing about the same things over and over, it was just funny to see her doing the whole Jesus by the River bit. I love all the songs on the album so it doesn't matter much to me either way; I just laughed a little.

marissa, i also laughed.

especially the last song, which also annoys me that she just did the same set as she did in chicago. i don't know why that upsets me... but, yeah i was a little uncomfortable during the gospel choir song. ha.

did she play jack killed ma? i liked that one.

she is country. i mean, right? she is getting farther and farther away from alternative and closer and closer to country.
it's fine; i love her.
