question...

If YOU had to spend a few days in the hospital to have a person removed from your uterus, what would you pack? Difficulty: the epidural means less screaming but more opportunity for boredom.

I'm told all the necessary medical/baby stuff they provide. Like diapers. And some really sexy underwear.

My father in law has sworn he's bringing me a margarita to the hospital ;) Which is how I know I
married into a good family.

I'm anxious to see this person inside your stomach. I've seen you, and I've seen Rory in pictures. This has gotta be a cute, not to mention painfully awkward kid. I say awkward only because I've never seen a photograph of Rory where he didn't look possessed.

It promises to be interesting! More than awkward photo ops, what Rory brings to the equation is the complete lack of self-consciousness or embarassment. If our kid has than gene we'll never cease to be entertained.

houseshoes are a must. THey won't let you leave until you poop, so you will making lots of trips to the bathroom! Also, take your own pillow, or at least pillow case. And shower stuff, when you get to bathe the next day you don't want to use their stuff...it's gross. I scheduled both of my babies around Law & Order marathons...I recommend it. Then you can count your contractions based on how many had during an episode.

Good luck!!

Man, I'd kill for a law & order marathon. That would be a perfect distraction. Also good call on the shower stuff. I hadn't thought of that.

Take one of those Boppy Pillows! If you have the kid the old fashioned way (not a C-section) your bottom and privates will be SORE for a few days after. I used it to sit on in the bed because there is a big hole in the middle and it gave relief to the sore parts...not being crushed on the bed and all...it works. Take two if you have them because you will need one if you are breastfeeding as well.

And ask your doctor about celebratory beverages...we had a bottle of dom perignon we got as a wedding present we were saving for a special occasion. He wrote it on my chart as a prescription and the nurses had it waiting on ice when I got back to my regular room!

We took Noah his own clothes so he wouldn't be stuck in hospital t-shirts the whole time.
