Job interview
Last weekend I applied for 4 jobs. I got a call back from one of the employers yesterday. Had the first interview today. I think it went well. It's a really cool organization. The pay is decent and the benefits are amazing. It would only be a lateral move for me, but so far everything about it looks better than my current job ( Read more... ) -
A memory of gym class
Ms. Watson - in 1976 there were not a lot of women who called themselves “Ms.”. I remember thinking it sounded terse and unfeminine, and not as nice as “Miss Linton”, who was our music teacher.

creative writing
I did a really cool thing this week. Discovered there is a creative writing group that meets weekly during lunch hour at our hospital campus, so I joined it!

the scoop on my job
Oy vey. The workplace situation is now rather interesting.
I've met with all the important people in the organization to give them my CV and make sure they know my skills (which most of them didn't!) and to let them know that I'm looking for ways to grow and expand.

Resolution
I don't normally do New Year's resolutions, but I've decided to do one. I would have made this decision anyway, but the timing just happens to be that it's December 31st today when I came to this decision:
I'm going to make a better effort to inquire about other people's happiness and wellbeing.

Today I continued to lay the groundwork for proving that they need to create a whole new job for me. A promotion.

Another exciting thing:
I ‘ve been back at work for 4 days since my year of maternity leave. Things have changed since I left. A lot of reshuffling. Our organization has expanded, so it’s a good kind of reshuffling, at least for me. Others are not happy with it -- people who have been languishing in old ways and can’t handle change.

almost pain-free
I've had back pain on and off for several years now. Something is out of kilter. Lately I've been going to an amazing physiotherapist who practices a new cutting-edge method of treatment. I am now almost pain-free and properly aligned for the first time in a couple of years! I haven't slept so comfortably since I-don't-know-when ( Read more... )
