Ok, someone asked for just the background part, but imma do the whole tut cause im so nice :)
and cause it doesnt have a lot of layers too :)
anyways,
this was a cap offered in one of the many SW icontests.
i'm not a fan of obi wan, so i just centered my icon on anakin. cropped to my base.
oh and by the way, join
art_battle :) if you haven't already
a little dark, dont you think?
anyways, next step is ultra simple...sharpen, blur the face, duplicate
4 times, desaturate one of the copies, and set the all to screen, then
duplicate the desaturated one set it to soft light. also, desaturate
the base.
next stop, white border, really easy, select two parts of it, make a new layer, floodfill white
add a border, it's one of
meleada's brushes, plus ive already made a tutorial for this part of icon, check my memories.
we now need texture, plus i didn't like the plain white back. a texture by tre (check my userinfo) set to multiply 100%
--->
next, i merged all base layers, duplicated set to top, then holding
ctrl clicked the thumbnail in layer palette of the white border layer
and hit delete. set it to soft light
now, i know the blue back part looks neat in the icon, but it's actually nothing special, it's a
pattern by thia, set to soft light 100%
but, you dont just add the pattern over the whole icon, but select the background part and apply it there
--->
then i added an exclusion layer (which now i see was a bad idea, or it should have been a bit lighter) in #010137
(today id do it in #010717 --->
)
and added some text in Garamond, size 2 and 12
now that you've gotten what you want, give me something i want :)
