I always pile on the makeup when I've been without sleep for too long. It doesn't so much hide the bags as distract people's attention from them. What you see is not an insomniac, but a giant raccoon walking upright ( Read more... )

Do I have to sing you to sleep?

That would be nice. Or if you have a sledgehammer you can hit me with, that might work.

I'm glad you had some company last night.

Even if it wasn't me.

Julie was good company. We also watched the sunrise, but the colors were far less spectacular than the last sunset I saw.

*small grin* Every other sunset from here on in is going to be unimpressive because of the one we shared.

You know, I still haven't slept?

I've heard warm milk helps.

Mmmm...miiiilllk? Oh, that stuff that comes from cows. ;)

Actually, my mum used to give that to me as a kid, but I don't remember it making me very drowsy. I could always give it another shot. Hey! Even better, I can try warm milk with a shot of brandy.

I did sleep for about 2 hours last night, and that helped. Next time I just need to find away to shut my brain down for a few hours.

Brandy was going to be my second suggestion, but the idea of any sort of alcohol mixed with milk makes my stomach churn.

If you ever need help 'shutting your brain down' again, I've got a baseball bat you could use. Just give me a call.

*laughs* A baseball bat would be great. I was just asking John 5 for a sledgehammer, but a nice bat would leave less of a bump.

Actually, while it probably wouldn't be great warm, milk and brandy would be similar to a Brandy Alexander. Those taste amazing and will put you to sleep, but if you drink too much you will wish you were dead.

Another cure for insomnia I haven't yet tried might be just wrapping up in a blanket with a friend and snuggling together as you watch movies and eat popcorn.

You live too much to sleep. Though if you want some hot cocoa and a nice peaceful rest, come over and we'll tuck you in. I won't tell. :)

If "we" means you and Lily, then that would be lovely. I may take you up on that. :)

But you're right about too much living. There are not enough hours in the day as it is, and the best stuff comes out when the rest of the world is asleep. So, why not take advantage of it? Plus, that's when the best monster movies come on tv.

It's a good thing we live our lives as nocturnes, I think. We can see the monster movies and still get some sleep. You just need someone to lure you to bed regularly. Just need to let it happen. :)

Julie means soft and youthful. Was she?

She was. *smile*

On the other hand, doesn't Jennifer come from the Welsh name Guinevere? Fair white wave. Soft and yielding, yet strong and bold.

I like your name a little better.

It does. I was going to be Guinevere but my parents thought it was too big of a name for such a little girl. I wish I had been.
