Opinions...
Abortion: I would never have an abortion, but I also don't look down on those that do. I feel that it's your choice and no one can stop you from doing what you feel is right. I think that it should not be used as a form of birth control, because I think people also need to be responsible for their choices.
Eating Disorders: I have had one and I know that you can't stop someone from it. I don't think that people should be shunned for having one. People that do have eating disorders have to make the decision that they want to get better and no one can do that for them. When that person has decided that they really do need help and that they want help, they will tell someone. I really don't think that a person with an eating disorder can be rehabilitated without really wanting to be.
Bush: I personally don't like him. I feel that he has been spending America's money very carelessly. I think that we should not be in Iraq and I think that he has made many bad choices. He can't speak publically without staring directly and his speech prompter and he doesn't make sense half the time. I feel that he is only trying to finish what his father started and I don't think he really cares about Americans. If he did, I feel that we would have gone to Afganistan, taken care of bin Laden, and then most of our soldiers could be back here with their families.
Gay Rights: I don't see why this issue is such a big problem. Just because someone is gay doesn't mean that they aren't human. By not giving them equal rights, the government is promoting prejudice and discrimination. I feel that they should be allowed to get married and religious officals shouldn't have a say in this. They have banned religion from school and public stores, but they use the biblical definition of marriage to keep gay marriages from happening. Where is the justice in that?
Censorship: I think that many things that are sensored shouldn't be. People have a right to express who they are unless it is degrating to or hurts other people. The government shouldn't have a say in our private lives and I think that we are able to make our own choices about what is right and wrong and what we should or shouldn't do.
Drugs: I don't take drugs and I don't see wy any one would want to harm themselves that way. I think that a person should be informed of the dangers of drugs and should be allowed to make their own choice on drugs. My biological father (I met him last year) is a drug dealer and I've seen first hand the effects drugs has had on him and it really scares me. However, he has used drugs for many years, habitually. Using a drug once may not kill you and if you only want to try it once to get it out of your system, go for it; but, be informed and stay safe. Make sure someone is not high and knows what is going on so they can call for help if anything goes wrong. Just make sure you are informed and safe.
Suicide: I feel that suicide is not the answer. I know a few people that have committed suicide and I really wish they would have thought about it a little more. I think a person has to be really desperate or depressed to commit suicide. I feel that it takes more courage to continue in life and face your problems than killing yourself and not having to deal with them. I feel that many suicides could be prevented if that person would have someone to talk to and could have help with their problems.
Religion: I am actually very active in my church and believe in God and pray that he can forgive me. However, I don't think religion should be forced on anyone. I think everyone should be allowed to believe in whatever they want. No one should be forced to worship. If someone doesn't believe in God and feels very strongly about it I wouldn't even try talking to them about it. I'm not here to start a religious war, and I don't think my God would like that. It seems when people do that they end up pushing the other person further from God anyone. Religion should be your own choice, not anyone else's. I also feel that many organized religions can be too critical and I do disagree with many 'political' view of our church. For example, I'm a Democrat (in a church of Republicans), I don't think the church should have a say in marriage or reproduction and I feel that sometimes the church can offend people and tries to make people think the way that they do.
Random... I'm getting really sick of hearing all about the celebrities in the news. I could care less about the latest pregnant celebrity or the newly divorced couple or who is cheating on who. I'm sick of it making headlines and I think we can focus on something else for once.
Of all of today's controversies and goings-on, which controversy or problem annoys you the most, and why? I'm getting really tired of all the debates about illegal immigration. Apparently these people want in this country really bad and it may be wrong the way they are doing it, but maybe they don't have the money to buy visas or passports. Maybe we should relax on those kind of things and focus more on who we are letting in to our country. Instead of paying for a visa, maybe having a background check would be more informational. I think the US needs to step back and reform t.heir immigration policies and see what can be done to help cut back on illegal immigration
Describe yourself to us in your own opinion: I am a college student majoring in forensic chemistry. I'm a good listener and try to help people when I can. I'm kind of quiet and shy, but that sometimes makes people think I'm a bitch. I study a lot and I worry a lot. I am really open and honest with my friends and if I'm comfortable around the people I'm with I can be a little crazy. I'm a clutz, I fall down all the time. I misspeak a lot and usually make some comical vocal errors. I love to read and I like to relax. I try not to judge people before I know them and I'm pretty accepting of everyone.
If You Could Change Something About Yourself, What Would It Be And Why: I wish I wasn't so shy. Sometimes I would like to be able to talk to someone without worrying about what they think of me. It would be nice to be able to make friends more easily and to feel comfortable around strangers instead of nervous and scared.
What are 10 things you do every day? I always brush my teeth, if I get up late I make sure I at least do that. I try to remember to call home at least once a day because my grandparents really miss me and they have raised me since the day that I was born. I usually read at least a chapter from a text book or a book that I'm just reading for fun. I clean up my room before I go to bed every night because I don't want my roommate to feel like she's living with a complete slob. I have to shower everyday or I feel skanky. I drink a Rockstar with pomegranate juice to give me a little boost when I'm studying. I get on-line to check out what's going on and try to stay in touch with my close high school friends. I try to work out at least a little everyday, even if it's just a quick stretch or run down the stairs. I have to watch something on TV that makes me laugh to keep me in a good mood. And I listen to music because it helps to pass the time and I absolutely love to sing, when no one is around!
One interesting fact about you: I worked as an assistant tumbling coach in high school and I still tumble and help out when I can.
