Well, I saw the news in The Birmingham Weekly this week. The Burly Earl (http://www.myspace.com/theburlyearl) has closed for good. I hate when you find a place to call your own and then they get rid of it with barely any notice,let alone replace it with some yuppie haven.It's happened one too many times here in Chicago.

..The Burly Earl is part of a trend of old joints in my former haunts closing. The unfortunate side effect of either gentrification or decline is that nothing survives.
