Finally, the day we've been waiting for had arrived. April 2nd, 2005!
Matt, Vanessa, Will, Jess, Chris and his girl (sorry i forgot her name) all arrived from PSL
around 4:30pm. At exactly 5 i arrived to Lionel's crib dressed in a bohemian dress with heels, and jewelry.
Not the best attire for a rise against show eh? yea, i didnt think so either. i was coming from a bridal shower
for an old friend of mine. so while everyone else waited for me in the parking lot, i went and changed at the speed of light.
when we finally got to the culture room, there was already about 100 people waiting outside in a line. so we kept ourselves entertained for about an hour, by talking about chapelle show, playing hacky-sack w/ a pack of gum, and throwing farts (matt).
USH.... they were alright, i've heard their stuff before, so it's not like i was completely disappointed. the singer definitely annoys me, but i think the band itself is pretty decent. Black Maria was awesome. damn canadians. plus, i supported the band and bought an al capone band shirt. Brazil, i liked, but they're not the type of band i would go see at a show. they more like "on-my-ipod-play-while-driving" type of band.
Finally...RISE AGAINST. The crowd was crazy. even during the techs were setting up the equipment everyone was chanting "RISE-A-GAINST!" ahh, such a great feeling. they opened up with To them these streets belong which was sort of a disappointment, but still a great opener. I'm glad they didnt just play music from State of the Union, some bands do that, play only their latest albums..ergh. The pit was nonstop and at time i had to step out to get a breather. i think the pit was the craziest during either state of the union or, like the angel.
alright here are some pics of the show.
corny singer from USH.
guitarist of USH. he goes to flanagan, according to danny.
this was the singer of The black Maria, he was great.
guitarist of the black maria. jessica said he looked like a keanue reeves (spellcheck).
mhm i'd say thats his brother, or second cousin.
lead singer of Brazil. funny thing was we saw this guy walking aimlessly around US1, when we driving to the culture room.
his tatts. mmmhm.
wasting time, waiting for RISE AGAINST.
MATT!
check out those hot sweaty bodies... mhm.
what up cuuuuuu'?
hahah andrea! my homie!<33
then the real show started....
and after everyone was drenched in sweat, it still continued.
during one song, we went to the patio and met the other bands. the guys from the black maria are really cool and they signed my gangsta shirt. lionel insisted on taking a picture of me with the lead singer.
we didnt even wait for them to finish playing the encore, of course "Give It all", before we went into the dark back alley to wait for the band to come out. we were one of the first to greet tim when he got off stage. sweaty, exhausted and dehydrated, he was still a total sweetheart. he signed all of our shirts, posters, tickets and we took like 20 million pictures with him. then he got all emotional and felt "honored" when matt told him that "swing life away" was his and vanessa's wedding song. hahaha. whata champ.
me and shaun with tim. then he felt even more "honored" when we told him that this was shauns first rock concert. hahaha. yes, rise against has converted him. GO SHAUN!
ihop at one o'clock in the morning is not the best experience, oh well.
