The grand Serenity/Firefly question

Oct 13, 2005 02:36

I know some of you out there are Firefly fans, so I must ask. Should I familiarize myself with Firefly before watching Serenity? I've heard from all over that not having seen the show won't put me at a disadvantage for the movie, but (and this is the big thing that's got me worried) will watching Serenity ruin Firefly for me?

I was wondering the same thing, and what I was told is that the movie was maade so that you dont have to have seen the show. It apparently makes it seem a little more complete, but I don't really know.

You don't NEED to see Firefly before you watch Serenity, but I really do recommend it. You'll have a greater attachment to the characters and care more about the things that happen to them... and there are some things that aren't explained very well that people who haven't seen the series might be confused about. If you're planning to watch the series, I can't imagine seeing the movie first. It's all well and good from the dramatic irony stance (knowing what will happen to certain characters), but I think it'd be less interesting in that way.

If you don't have the time to commit to watching the entire series, then check out the pilot before you see the movie. It's an hour and a half long, and really gets into the characters development. Yay for another Firefly fan!
