First Period: AP Calc with Zambrano
I was kinda nervous about going, considering I haven't gotten an A in math since eighth grade [though I was close as hell the past two years, but that's another story]. It doesn't sound too rigorous, and while the AP Packet is a little intimidating, I have to remind myself that we're working on it up until May. Zambrano doesn't seem as sassy as everyone has described him, but then again it was only the first day. I'm almost looking forward to him bashing everyone in my class.
Second Period: English with Keirnan
I've gotten mixed reviews from her, but the majority say that she's an easy teacher. All throughout class, in my head I was saying, "Oh shit, another year of Ms.Vara." While I anticipate an easy work load, I am not excited for the bipolar tendencies and know-it-all attitude. I am really excited for what we're studying this year. I think it's going to help me keep the whole Foreign Motif that's been running in my life the past year or so. Besides Shakepeare, I have no other experience with British Lit, but I'm hoping it's just as good as American Lit. My sister suggested dropping into a lower level English so that I could have Summers. He's a much better teacher and I'll be getting the same grades but doing less work. I'm not doing this for the easy way out, I just like to have good teachers.
Third Period: College Accounting with Hill
He seems like a really chill guy. It sounded like he was trying to scare us by saying we actually have to work, but I've had Castania for my elective the past two years so working is no problem for me. He says that I'm going to use the stuff I learn in class in the real world no matter what, which is exactly what my father said, so I'm actually glad I decided to keep this class rather than taking computer classes. I'm killing two birds with one stone.
Fourth Period: Gym
WHY THE FUCK AM I GIVING THIS ITS OWN PARAGRAPH! They changed the rules again because they think students will get it in their head that it's actually a class; I'm sorry, but what I learn in gym is not as important as what I learn in my academic classes, so stop thinking that anyone other than Coach Olsen's son, along with other jocks, will take gym seriously. I'm glad that I have Brittany, Shimmy, and Brad in my class [then again, Brad is good to have in ANY class]. They keep the hilarity that is physical education at high levels.
Fifth Period: Lunch
Hay, what's up 10:30 lunch! I sit with Sarah, Connie, Brittany, Sam Simon, Evan, and RyanB. I actually like my table a lot and I think we're a pretty good group of people. I am really hoping I have as much fun with them as I think I will.
Sixth Period: AP Stat with McNutt
One of the first things he said was "If you're used to getting As, you're pretty much getting an A in this class." THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! McNutt seems like a really awesome guy with a similar sense of humor as I do [it's okay to laugh at yourself, even if it's a little inappropriate and mean at times]. I like his grading system and I really won't know about the course load until I get a little bit further in the year. Everyone in my class seems pretty chill, minus Christina Daibes, but Jillian Walsh is sitting in front of her, so maybe that will keep Christina quiet.
Seventh Period: US History2 with Zisa:
I'm pretty much the only person who finds Zisa irritating. I find his humor forced and a little too Italian for me. Maybe when we start learning and we have to take things seriously he'll start being genuine, but who knows, maybe his candid is fake. I'm really excited for this class this year, which is huge coming from an anti-history person like me. I spent a lot of the summer learning about World War 2, and supposedly the hardest part about it is the maps, all of which I already know. I'm really excited to become total BFF with FDR.
Eigth Period: Latin with Partridge
After listening to him describe the class, I think I'm set on NOT taking the AP exam this year. I think that I would take it if the class were a little more geared towards the exam. For AP Latin Lit, the entire test is on the works of Catullus and another author, which is different each year. For AP Vergil, you study all of the Aeneid. This year we're doing a lot of Cicero, which I know isn't one of the authors for Latin Lit, so I'd be screwed if I went to take the exam. As for Partridge, he seems more relaxed this year, now that his home life has calmed down a little bit. I'm hoping he's as cool as he was in eighth grade.
Ninth Period: AP Chem with Gemborys
He's making me sit by myself AND behind Aaron Grober, which would make two periods sitting behind him, the other class being English. I also sit at a bench table by myself in the back [because I'm ugly], so that means next week when we work with our lab partners, I'M SCREWED! Thanks Gemborys. He made the class sound a lot scarier than it probably is. I also don't like that he might bell curve the grades. Another thing, this time next week I will have take three quizzes for this class. This is pretty much the only one I'm worried about because I'll be doing the most work for it and it has the hardest content [rumor has it it's the hardest AP class, WTF HI WHY]. I don't like some people in the class, and it makes me feel stupid that Anthony Tahan is in my class; I was debating whether or not he was the for shits and giggles at first, but then when his name was on the attendance, I pretty much punched myself in the face. I'm definitely one of those elitist academic kids and I'm not even in half honors.
I think I'm really going to focus this school year. I came home, sat down, and did all of my homework and in a little while I'm going to study for my first test of junior year. Today I was asked by two kids where classes were and it hit me... I'm old. Maybe not mentally, but I'll get there one day. But people look up to me, just like I looked up to all juniors and seniors my freshman year. I'm making more college visits in a few months and probably taking the SATs as soon as I can. This really is a big year, as much as I refuse to admit it orally.
Alright, here goes my dive...
