Horror movies scare the living shit out of me, but The Orphanage looks badass.

You should see Strings. I know it seems like a random suggestion out of nowhere, but I think you'd like it.

You should definitely see the Orphanage. It's scary but not a typical horror movie at all.

This Strings? Interestingggg I will give it a shot!

Good! Since I don't really talk about politics or go on angry feminist rants anymore I'm holding onto movie reviews as my last bit of livejournal substance.

Noooo and I want to see it so bad. It's up on veohtv but you have to download a player and make an account to watch their movies. It seems like way too much work/easily traceable.

lol yeah, i dont want to work that hard. but my stupid ass was reading ONTD and of course spoiled myself, so i know how it ends. the US remake makes me mad. ive been wanting to see the original as soon as i first heard about it, which was barely last year.

i loves these posts of yours.

But “Crackheads” is more like a PSA unlike any you have ever seen. As a reporter that has interviewed crackheads myself, I can say that this is the realest, necessarily grittiest portrayal of cracklife on film, Sam Jackson’s “Gator” not withstanding. This is as close as any of us wants to come to understanding what it means to live with crack addiction. This DVD documents the folly of mixing poverty with drugs like 60 Minutes never could. As hard as it is to watch, I have to recommend it as required viewing in any thorough discussion about drugs ( ... )

Ok the trailer is way better quality than the actual movie but it gives a good glimpse into how intense it is.

:(

it must be esp chilling to live in the city where it was filmed. I'll look into finding it to watch it...

Oh wait apparently that is the sequel. I was wondering why he seemed to cut so many disturbing scenes but left them in the trailer. My googling tells me that the director made the first one for attention and the second one is supposed to be more scared straight-ish. D:

Tooooootally agree about The Orphanage ending 5 minutes earlier. I actually left pretty pissed that it wasn't left more ambiguous.

Did you see The Descent? It almost felt like how in the American version they just tacked on a more feel-good ending. It was so out of place and silly.

tracy letts just won a pulitzer for the play August: Osage County. So maybe he's better at playwriting than film.
