So when I found out that someone repeatedly impregnated herself and induced miscarriages using herbal abortificants in the name of art I was like, "Oh that's weird and dumb and everyone other than Bob Flanagan harming their body for art has never really moved me."

Yeah... I'll be honest here and say I don't "get it" either...

What was her intention? To bring about discussion? Because of all the topics in the world abortion hasn't really been one of them that's difficult to talk about - in the sense that I think everyone I've ever met has some kind of opinion anf most of them pationate.

As for art and the human body - well, she's not the first and won't be the last.

Well I think the discussion she brought about was something that isn't brought up in terms of abortion. Obviously pro-life vs. pro-choice has been debated ad nauseum but the hypocritical moral policing within the pro-choice movement is very prevalent. It did bring to the fore front the fact that both sides aren't monolithic, I guess?

I'm glad you're an artist/art student yourself and don't totally get it haha.

In my defense... I'm kinda in the minority when it comes to being a pro-life artist.

The issue definitely isn't balck and white and I think the more we learn the more grey it will get. Which, is good for the most part.

As for the moral policing, I will say I'm quite ignorant of it.
