heh, you're something of an installation artist yourself though aren't you? or am i completely wrong? or are you joking and i've just ruined it?
i think installation art actually involves a hell of a lot more effort on account of the fact that you're working with a space rather than a canvas/piece of paper. did you ever to go to Saatchi and see the Richard Wilson installation with the room half filled with oil? oh you must've.
I'm joking, an upset student art student at my end of year show said that. They were moaning about space for there work and why I got more than everyone else because i was doing an installation.
I think think there is a lot more depth to installation art as it's taking the viewer away from the still image and asking people to reflect on many different aspects of art. time, space, viewing point and all that kind of thing.
I have not done any installation art for years though, it was a fun thing to start to learn.
I don't think I got to see the Richard Wilson bit.
oh my! ok it's my room. i'd quite like to get a small studio after uni finishes though, just to keep it all going.
my art is in the uni studios at the moment. They're part of Spike Island, a 'national centre for the production and exhibition of contemporary visual art' apparently. it's a pretty laid back place.
i haven't been in an exhibition since last summer...need to get on the case! after finshing this painfully long dissertation, that is...
Ah ok :) I visited Spike Island on a trip in my first year of uni!
I was going to ask if I could look at some of your work and maybe feature it in my magazine. I'm looking for practising students & artists whose work I can photograph that would translate well in 2D on a page. Also, out of all of the people I feature I'd like to pick a few for a little article on artists studios & creative spaces :) So ummmmm yes... I just thought I would ask you if you were interested!
that would be amazing! i do really need to get my work out there more. it's fantastic what you've achieved, getting your work in exhibitions in the US and all that. it's so tempting to just keep it all inside, as a kind of hermetic pleasure. i'll send you some pictures in a few weeks, i've got a lot of finishing off to do at the moment...
