4. I wrote a grad-level neuropsychology paper on PTSD (I'm not in a psychology program. I just took it because I wanted to learn more about myself. I'm a sociology grad student) and from what I studied, the same region of the brain that is damaged in Alzheimer's Disease is damaged in PTSD. Stem-cell research looks really promising for healing damage to this part of the brain if they can just find a way to get the cells to migrate there (if I'm remembering correctly). My school happens to be a really strong research school for Experimental Psychology and my professor for the class specializes in stem-cell research for this particular region of the brain. We were to come up with a possible cure for the condition we studied and this was mine. I'm guessing I might be onto something since I received 100% and he'd be the best judge of whether or not my research was thorough enough to merit this, but I would LOVE to know if this is an actual possibility. Anyone want to go into Experimental Psych and see if this is the case? :)
