I have been offered a job! Hazzah!

There are 2 problems.

A) Its only seasonal.

B) I have no transport.

However, the greatness of this job heavily outweighs these two minor problems. How Im going to be able to get there, Im sure will resolve itself with a bit of thinking...

Bugger.

Train from Yatton + bus from Temple Meads to the zoo seems a good stop-gap option until we can get your car fixed. The services seem pretty regular.

I wouldn't say it's a good stop-gap solution, but it is probably the only way to do it. The services are pretty regular, too - the local trains to & from yatton and then the 8 or 9 bus from the station. You could still find yourself having to take two hours for the journey though, factoring in the waits between modes of transport and the likelihood of delays up and down park street. You may well be able to shave some time off the bus journey, particularly in busy traffic, by getting off a little early and walking - the buses can take a bit of a roundabout route I think.
Or you could move to bristol, and mark can take the train down to yatton.

Ooh, I have another idea. How about riding some kind of giant bird to and from work?

Well, I was looking at the timetables around the times Lon is likely to be using the services, & it works out as a 20/25 min drive to Yatton (with me) a 20 train to Bristol, about a 10 min wait for a bus, then 20 min bus to the zoo.

When it's not rush hour it does only take 20/25 mins by car all the way using the shortcut through the villages South-West of Bristol to get to the zoo (!), but Lon will likely be driving in rush hours.

What was Clifton Suspension Bridge built for by the way? On one side it's the massive sprawling grot of Bristol, & on the other side a handful of upmarket houses and a large estate of greenery... Did all the slave merchants live on one side, & keep the urban poor in Bristol proper on the other side of the fortified bridge or something?

I really don't know what kind of traffic the suspension bridge used to carry. It never carried rail traffic. It doesn't help you get to avonmouth, to the north-west and there's nowhere to the west or south-west close enough that the mile and a half extra to cross at hotwells would be a big waste of time. I presume in the past a lot more produce came from the countryside west of bristol, but surely not enough to justify the expense of the bridge ( ... )
