Shawn said tea tree oil helped a bit with his poison ivy. Let me see if I can find the all natural website I found for him when he had a really bad case. (He got his while burning some old wood--really really bad case that he ended up at the doctors with.)
Also, if you have a cold compress that might help stop you from wanting to itch.
I'll go take a look and send you the link if I find it!
Sadly I ran out of tea tree oil and haven't replaced it yet. The health food store in town (only place I've found to carry it locally) doesn't have any late hours and I'd have to wait til saturday to go. I don't think I can wait that long. lol!
This morning, Eric let me use the stuff he'd gotten last year and it seems to help a little with the itching so I'll see if walgreens has it after I go to the grocery store this evening. He'd have left it with me but he's treating too.
Thank you sweetie! I've looked it over and was sorta surprised that they didn't list witch hazel, which also works well in "cooling" down the itch and drying it up.
Ugh! I totally sympathize. If it's around, I get it. The summer before our wedding I got a really bad case of it on my hands, arms, face. I was SO afraid it wouldn't go away in time for wedding pics. I remember having a wedding gown fitting when I was still all blotchy, puffy, and bumpy. eek. *itch* Caladryl never helped me much. Eddie brought home some stuff that guys at work recommended. Ivy-dry and CortiCool both really helped. I hope yours doesn't last long! HUGS!
HUGS backacha lady and I remember reading/hearing about your pre-wedding poison ivy trauma. I'm so glad you were able to get rid of it before the wedding.
I've been really lucky as I've not had it since I was a child and I remember it well. My arm (the only place that got it) was swollen to almost double and there wasn't a bare patch of skin anywhere. What kid wants to spend a summer day suffering from that? ugh! What a nightmare.
As I posted to sweeper, I've not had it since I was a child and got one of the worst cases ever. I was such a tomboy...still am in a lot of ways. I guess I mistakenly thought that because of the severity of it, I'd gotten an immune gene and couldn't get it anymore. Hah! That's what I get for thinking. hee! You're not missing a thing and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

However, ouch! I hate being itchy.
And, of course, I'm interested.
Take care, hon.
