EDIT: I stand corrected, although the relief persists; it was Andrei Pavel who gave Andre Agassi a surprisingly hard time during the first round, with enough tiebreakers to make a fan nervous that he would lose in the first round of his last US Open.

Fortunately, he didn't. Whew. Any other relieved fans ( Read more... )

I am relieved. lol I looked at the draw, and the only person that can REALLY threaten him is Marcos. The next 2 rounds or so will be fairly easy for Andre in my opinion. It will be a good match though. I cant wait till the Final though. I have a ticket to it and im soooooooooooo excited. lol I figure it will be another Nadal and Federer match, but I would like to see a Federer/Agassi or Federer/Roddick Final.

I'd love to see one of those two finals, as well. Not that I'd hate seeing Federer/Nadal, but it would be exciting to see either Agassi or Roddick in the finals!

How exciting for you to have tickets to attend! Enjoy!

We're more than relieved here at our house -- where we've followed Andre's career since he was a young up-and-coming player.

We wanted to see him at least win one match. And with the considerable pain he has to be suffering because of his back, that's probably the best we can hope for. (sigh)

I'd like to hold on to the hope for him to go several rounds, of course! And I dream that he could even make the finals. (The big dream being for another win, though I realize that's next to impossible.)

I love this man. Not just as a tennis player, but for all the greatness he's shown in every aspect of his life...

He didn't play Marcos Baghdatis in the first round, he played Andrei Pavel. Baghdatis is his next opponent, isn't he?

Yes, you are correct. His first round match was against Pavel, and Baghdatis is next.

Eeep, I stand corrected. I was misinformed. The sentiment still remains, though! :P
