Dex sat at the other end of the sofa, Elizabeth's feet in his lap, one hand lazily rubbing the smooth arch of her foot while the other held a book regarding children and early wizarding education, a Christmas gift from his brother.
He turned and looked at the boy who was still so timid and shy. "It's alright Jesse. This is your home. You don't need to ask permission to use the loo like you do at school."
Jesse blushed and bit his lower lip before leaving his new parents to head to the bathroom. Soon after a quiet sob came out of the room and Elizabeth frowned, leaving her comforatble seat to tend to her son.
Her expression softened as she knocked at the door and walked in, finding Jesse crying softly. It took her only a moment before she realized what had happened.
When they took his in Jesse had been slightly neglected in his developpement. He wasn't potty trained yet so Dex and Elizabeth had worked on getting him to use the potty, which was fine, but accidents were still happening after everything the poor boy went through.
Liz kissed the top of his head and helped him clean up. "Next time sweetie, just go to the bathroom. Don't wait for our approval, okay?" she asked him gently as she gave him clean clothes.
Jesse nodded and hiccupped before walking out, still pouting slightly but a bit too proud to letting his father know.
Elizabeth joined her husband and gave him a reassuring smile.
Elizabeth smiled at her husband then closed her eyes and sighed. "Anything as long as I'm with your two." she told him, still smiling happily. Jesse had changed a lot of things for them. Mostly about their privacy but it was at these moments that she thanked Merlin to be a witch. Silencing Spells were useful again.
She took his hand rubbed the back with her thumb as she opened her eyes to look at him lovingly. She caught Jesse's expression and then patted the spot beside her, the boy coming over shyly. "I have a feeling he hasn't seen a lot of displays of affection in his short life, love." she said in a hushed tone when Jesse sat between them and lowered his head to rest it on her lap.
She stroke his hair and smiled down at him with a smile. "Maybe just a walk, it would be nice to go out a little." she answered softly.
Jesse looked up and looked at Dex. "Out.." he whispered softly. Even if he was almost 4 his language was not the best. Or maybe he was just shy still. "I want to play in the snow.."
Jesse nodded, as if he was ashamed of it. Elizabeth went to him and hugged him. "You don't need to do it again, honey. But we could try charming the sled so it will be slower." she proposed softly, cupping her son's cheek.
Jesse's eyes brightened. "A castle." he said softly, now getting really excited. He liked to build sand castles but in snow it would be so much better. There would be no need for water.

Their Christmas had been small with most of the gifts going to Jesse. "Is there anything the two of you would like to do today?"

"Umm, we can just play in the snow too. Maybe build things," he suggested.
