She stood in the hall outside Slade's office, rage and frustration boiling beneath the surface of her induced calm. She could sense him indirectly through her placating link to Robin, just as she could feel Robin unconsciously probing at his own indifference ( Read more... )

The scientist had dropped her off here... Well, where ever here was. Nina sighed, gripping her scythe quite tightly, lest it was taken away from her again.

'...Who is that?' She thought to herself, glancing around nervously. No one else was nearby. Well, why the hell not.

Iris turned, smiling automatically, hardly recognizing her own voice when she speaks.

"Welcome. Master Slade has just returned, but it might be a while before he can meet with you." She glanced at the door, sensing that she had a few minutes before he services would be needed. She turned back to the winged newcomer. "If you wouldn't mind waiting in the Common Room? I can show you where it is."

Nina nodded. "I would not mind." She muttered quietly.

Iris lead the girl to the Common Room, some small part of her mind glad to find it empty at the moment.

"I'll be back in a few minutes. I'll show you to your room, and then me and one of the other girls are going down to dinner, if you'd like to join us?"

She sighed, waiting for Slade to call her. She knew what he needed her to do, because she knew his plan. She knew all of his plans. For this scheme, anyway...

-Don't want to, don't want to, don't want to...-

She closed her eyes, focusing inward. Part of her mind, her power, strove to calm that voice inside... and a smaller, more desperate part, railed with it, battering at her concentration.

As always of late... the larger voice won out and she was filled with stillness. She opened her eyes, one hand clenched around her pendant.

-Come, child. It is time.-

Her eyes flared red and she opened the door, walking into the darkness of the docking station...
