[Application for Twilight]

Sep 21, 2005 02:03

Name: Damon Weiss
Code Name: Twilight
Age: [Chronologically] 19. [Physically] 14.
Power: Can render large groups inert with a single, silent howl.
Drawbacks: Due to the sheer power of his voice, he doesn't talk much... also, he is a werewolf, but not in the 'traditional' sense. When he becomes severely agitated, he transforms into a large wolf. With years of training, he might someday be able to control this transformation, but for now, he is simply a danger to all around him... which is why he was put into stasis in the first place.

First Person:

I can still remember the way she used to smile. The way she always looked upto me, even though I was only a year older...

The way she screamed.

It's been a year since it happened. I haven't slept more than a few hours at a time since that night... one thought haunts me more than the nightmares.

I killed her. She's gone because of me. Because I lost control.

Just the memory alone is almost enough to trigger the change... but I can't let it happen again. Because one endless scream is more than I can handle...

Third Person:

The metallic pod hissed open in the dark, the emergency lights flickering darkly as the scientists rushed forward to minimize the damage done to their precious specimens. They lifted him out onto a uncushioned metal gurney, transferring all his monitoring lines to a portable system as they fought to keep his body from crashing into oblivion. His temperature spiked and his form flickered... for a moment there was an over-sized wolf spread on the stretcher instead of a fourteen year old boy. One of the aides hit a sequence of switches on a panel and he turned back.

One crisis averted.

His eyes opened as they rushed him along incongruous hallways. First harsh metal and stone, then carpet and wood paneling, then the antiseptic hospital tile he knew so well. They drifted closed again, just for a moment, and time flew around him. He was shifted again, prodded with more needles, placed in a machine... and then nothing. There was a long blank expanse, and when memory reasserted itself, he was in an infirmary room, strapped down and drugged up.

"Happened again didn't it..." It wasn't really a question, but the nurse nodded anyway. "Did I kill anyone?" She shook her head, but he saw how she kept her distance. "That bad?" He rasped, his words dry and painful in his throat.

She didn't answer.
