Important and not so Important Information

Weight: 185Ibs/84kg
Plays: Right Handed

Nicknames: Muzz, Muzza, MAndy, Muzzaraptor (mean!) Eeoyre (lol) Andy (don't talk about my mum) Murray

Early Life

Murray was born into a sporting family. His grandfather, Roy Erskine, was a professional footballer for Hibernian (Hibbs) and for Stirling Albion and Cowdenbeath in the S.F.L. His mother, Judy Murray, was a professional tennis player turned coach. Andy also has an older brother, Jamie, who is also a professional tennis player, specialising in doubles and often taking part in Davis Cup ties.

Both Jamie and Andy attended Dunblane Primary School which is now famous for the most horrifying of reasons. In 1996,  a gunman, Thomas Hamilton, walked into the school and killed 17 people, mostly children, before taking his own life. The Murray children were present at the time but not in the P.E class that had been selected by Hamilton and took cover in another classoom . In his autobiography, Andy's mother gives a harrowing account of the day from a parents' point of view. She also mentions that Hamilton had been the leader of a boys' sports club which her children had attended and that she had often given him a lift in her car.
Now, thankfully, Dunblane can boast something much more positive - although the massacre can never be forgotten - It is the hometown of the British number 1 and World number 4.
/end depressing stuff

Murray began playing tennis at an early age and, at age 15, moved away from home to train in Barcelona on the advice of another junior -Rafael Nadal.

Pointless Facts and all that Jazz

At various points in his career, Murray has made a series of bad choices regarding his hair.

Thankfully, though, this phase seems to be over...

There is an urban myth that Murray is moody. However, this is not altogether true. Murray has a funny but extremely dry sense of humour which is not always obvious. He will often become annoyed with himself on court because he expects a lot of himself but this is not a reflection of his personality off the court. Also, contrary to the ledgend, Andy Murray can smile. Here are some examples:

It also is my personal opinion that Fred Perry dressed Andy in much nicer outfits than Addidas!!
