Thats right kids, due to a lack of car, and sincere need to take a break from crazy organizing, unpacking, and worrying (i know, i shouldnt) its time for... dun dun dun!!!!!
What Chelsea Did On Her Summer Vacation.... PICTURE STYLE!!!! (loud applause and much excitement)
Best to start from the beginning. The first week and a half (we're talking June) was an orientation for the staff. We played a ton of games (for team building) and the Cove Kids (infant to 5 yr olds), Lakeside (1st-6th grade) and High Tide (7th-12th grade) counselors met to plan their weeks. I basically played around with the camera for a week, not really doing anything. We also played the "Name Game," in which all the new staff got nicknames... mine being Cupid. ...that being said... here is a picture of Cupid
This is me, in my video room. I am wearing a SWEET wrap from Kenya that a missionary gave me and the OFFICIAL EDITING TIARA (II). You'll notice a pile of snacks and caffeine in the background. Thats i pulled 9 all nighters. You'll also notice its a mess. That was its general state.
Anyway, soon orientation was over and the incredible event called Ladies Days began. Ladies Days is an entire week of one-day retreats for women. Hundreds of different women arrived at Gull Lake everyday to hear two speakers, one concert artist, a drama group, and to eat the most FANTASTIC chicken salad and eclaire i have ever had.I ran camera for the event, and spent all day every day next to my friend McDiver. It was great fun.
That's McDiver and Me at our closing celebration baseball game.
As soon as Ladies Days was done, Family Camp arrived. And thats what we did for the past 9 weeks. I loved it. Basically i taped morning noon and night, and edited all day and most of the evening every thursday. It got tedious at times, but i'm never in such a good mood than when i'm editing. I dont know why, i've come to love it. So i edited and burnt all night, and on friday morning while the staff cleaned cottages and the guests left, i slept. It probably wouldnt be as fun without Braveheart. He often stayed up for moral support, to do cool special effects, to take over when i cant stay awake and because we had tons of fun. We watched movies and whatnot while working. I now fully recommend "A Mighty Wind" and "That Thing You Do." We also saw Breakfast and Napolean Dynamite.
Thats Braveheart and me at the game. Just so you all know, he once threw me out of golf cart, a mistake for which i NEVER got flowers.
Taping and editing kept me busy, but i got to go everywhere, see everything, and talk to everyone on staff. I often found myself in the ski boat with Squack Attack or up at the zipline with Kamikazee, WaWaWujah ,Googlie, WonderBread and Jetta Knight. But i somehow managed to see EVERYONE during the day...
RANDOM STAFF MEMBERS! (Somerset, Chips, Squack, False Alarm, Merry Melodies, Roo, and Taco)
(Googlie, Kamika, Braveheart, Squack, Etch a Sketch, Me, French Fry, American Idle, and Igloo laying on the floor)
When not taping i hung out with Footloose
OR i with Work Crew, aka in the Kitchen with Mother Nature,
Astro, Rimshot
and of course American Idle. He's a wonderful guy, gives the best hugs i've ever received. Anyway, random picture time...
