My name is The First Evil. The whole having evil in my name and all gives a good hint at how I'm gonna answer this question. I'm gonna answer it evil-y.
Therefore to be totally honest. I have sold out. I have sold out friends and enemies alike. Well okay, I wouldn't call anyone my friend. Cause I don't really do the friend thing. Colleague, collaborator, confidant, or other various words that start with the letter C. There is absolutely nothing wrong with selling out. What the hell is wrong with doing what is best for you? What is wrong with getting the most you can get? I see nothing wrong with putting ones own priorities first in life. To do otherwise only allows others to treat you like a doormat. Walk all over you and have their way.
So evil finds nothing wrong with being called a sell out. Some may have their feelings hurt by being called it. Some basketball players for example may feel bad that their beloved hometown; and ungrateful fans see their actions of signing with another team in Miami as selling out the city for greener pastures. Disregard the fact said athlete stayed the full term of his contract. Gave the best years of his life to the city. Helped create thousands of jobs and show that his city could produce world class talent worth millions. The way I see it, if a community doesn't support its hometown hero after all the years of support and hard work. They are just being selfish babies. They should be happy and want their ex-hero to succeed. Cause just maybe they will come back some day.
In conclusion there is nothing wrong with selling out. Sell out concerts are good. Sell out books are good. Selling out your effort, talent, work to the highest bidder is good. If one wants to succeed in life. Do their absolute best. Reach the highest levels in whatever endeavor they choose to follow. Sometimes being seen as a sell out will be the price they gotta pay. For some the price may be too high. For others the sky is the limit.
