Buffy is flawed. She is weak. She cannot overcome her weaknesses. Even the greatest among the vampire slayers. The most successful slayer of all time. Even she feels like a failure in the end. For she learned the sad truth. She learned that no one can have it all. Born of flesh and blood. Born into sin. Born knownin' that someday like all humans, she must pass on. Only given a brief time to live, love, or hate. Like most, she desires to do it all. To have a normal life. To succeed at school. To succeed at work. To be the best she can be. Havin' the perfect family. The perfect job. In a nut shell. She expected everythin' to be perfect.
Yet like most, she came up short. Height pun intended. She failed to even live up to her own standards. She gave into her selfishness. Her lust. Her carnal desires. She sought to much pleasure in the here and now. She failed to realize that life was never meant to be perfect. Never meant to be all peace and joy. Never meant to be a happy endin' with her true love. Instead it was meant to be tough. Meant to be hard. Meant to be painful. Full of heartache and sadness.
One can't always have things their way. And one certainly can't have it both ways.They can't have it all. No matter how much they may want it. When push comes to shove. One has to make a choice. They gotta decide what path to take. Decide what they wanna do with their life. What job to take. And who they really love. Be it good choices or bad choices. The right way or the wrong one. That is for everyone to choose. And once chosen, the choice is somethin' they gotta live with. For better or worse.
