The AMA needs to re-evaluate it's "norms". They use the BMI scale which does not truely represent all people. I am 6'2" and weigh about 230. It says my ideal weight should be 180-190. I would look like Kate Moss if I weighed 180-190#. There's not enough statistical research in weight to height ratios. Good luck on your diet. I recommend the ABS Diet since it allows you to modify instead of omit. It has been the best "lifestyle" change of any diet and it's the easiest. The second best would be weight watcher's since you basically can have anything just as long as you add the points. Stay away from The South Beach, Atkins, and The Zone. Current research shows we need carbs. It's all about Sat Fat/Simple sugars/Trans fat/portions and eating every 3-4 hours with protein in every meal. Of course, that will change tomorrow...LOL.

Thank you, Buck!

See my next post for actual numbers.

And I agree with what you say... I'm about to modify the diet away from the pure South Beach.

Thanks again. :)

Diets suck. I'm telling you. See a nutritionist about portion control and the appropriate things to eat for your weight loss goals. Start working out more with weights, as well as doing at least 30 minutes of cardio a day (and I know you do that with your laps!)... the more weight you have in muscle, the more fat you're going to burn when at rest. Diets suck because of deprivation, and the fact that when you go off the diet, you gain it right back. And science has recently discovered that yoyo dieting is worse for your heart health than staying at a high weight. Lifestyle changes are what it's going to take for you to lose weight and maintain it ( ... )
