Last night, as I was trying to fall asleep, I wondered what it would be like to play a sort of Trivial Checkers. Arrange people on a grid as game pieces. Each turn, a trivia question is asked, and only people who could answer the question can move, with all the other rules being the same as checkers (or chess, I guess). I think it would be fun if trivial chess would be the intellectual (or at least trivial) equivalent of the chess in mortal kombat deception. Basically, every time a piece would take another piece, you ask both players trivia until one can't answer, then that player is taken and the other player gains control of the square.
Also this dress blew me away. James was talking about wearing it to an exceedingly gothic wedding.

Yeah, I thought about that too, but that seems like 1) more pressure on the individual player (part of the reason I hate most board games is that they stress me out), and 2) less like actual chess.

Yes, I saw that. Oh goodness pretty. I have a definite weakness for pinstripes (along with stripes of all stripes, as well as dots, polka and otherwise).

for checkers, there should be no master player -- each piece should move if they get it right, in real time. conflicts resolved by sudden death match trivia.

also, um, you should come downstairs and show me your dress!
