It is has fragile little wires that supply the current on one side of the phosphor, and it has a fairly thick plastic coating, so it doesn't take tight bends very well. However, it comes in at least four gauges, and the tiniest one, though even more fragile, is apparently fairly limber. Alternatively, you could knit something in yarn and weave the wire through it.
I'm just using the (extra bright, long life) standard stuff, but they have a "tail" wire with a wide ridge along it (like corded piping) for better sewing into seams.
