Basically, some of the hatred for the "new" HBP Hermione stems from a kind of betrayal. Some of the Hermione-lovers, worshipers if you will, identified with Hermione to the point of projecting themselves on Hermione ... They would never act like, or acted like Hermione did when they were teenagers, why would Hermione act like that at all, especially over some idiot like Ron.

Sorry if it doesn't make much sense, I don't know if I'm always getting my point across effectively.

I think I know what you mean. But most of the Hermione hate I've seen seems to have started from Book1.
So...if I do understand you correctly, you think Hermion went a bit out of character because of Ron, and people that liked her before feel betrayed? If I'm right, that does make sense and I also don't think her and Ron would make a good couple...*runs and hides*
But anyway, I love Hermione because she's like me in some ways, mainly because she can't keep her mouth shut when she should and because she's quite a show-off.

I don't think she went out of, but that seems to be a popular opinion among people who hated some aspects of HBP. But yes, to the second part of that statement.
