To those of you that are trying to lose weight while nursing, how much extra do you give yourself or how did you go about figuring out your calories needed?

If you go to kellymom there should be some information on there about how many calories you need while trying to lose weight. :)

I've read the info on there, and a few other sites and my calorie site with other nursing moms and there's just so many different numbers.

under a year I allowed the 500 extra calories (so about a 1800-2000 cal diet when trying to lose weight) after a year I just didn't allow for breastfeeding calories at all because I saw the breastfeeding as bonus food for her and if my supply dipped from time to time it wasn't really an issue. it takes a LOT for your supply to dip from a low cal diet.

I don't know, I really couldn't find a happy medium while nursing. I either maintained or gained until my milk dried up, then weight would fall off =/ I hope you have better luck than I!
