It was never confirmed that Xena was Ares daughter. It was STRONGLY implied during one episode with the Furies. The timing made sense and the story and such, but again... never confirmed.

And they were *almost* sleeping together for a REALLY long time. I mean, they played up the sexual tension up to the very end. Basically, Ares was always trying to seduce her, but they never showed them actually having sex. Just kissing. A lot of kissing. Sometimes pretty naked kissing, but still...

Yes, it was an American TV show... but one that never did well. I was HELLA surprised they went there, too. But then again, they also played around with Xena and Gabby's relationship much more than other TV shows. They had at least two full kisses, jokes about hickies, sexual dances multiple times, and story lines about "intertwining souls".

Oh! There was even a great episode where all three of them ended up in bed (only sleeping, but still).

true, but i just feel like, for the 90s, skirting the edge of plausible deniability re: xena/gabrielle is not in the same category as potential deity dad/offspring incest (uncomsumated though it might be)!
