I don't really think it was too harsh. Doing what they did is irresponsible. They give you TONS of freedom on french trip, and yet they still abused it. And I heard that the people of the hostile told them the future classes weren't welcome there anymore. They embarassed the headmaster and his wife. Not that I'm like a huge peter and allegra fan or anything, but the whole situation sucked enough that the committee had to do something to punish them. Only the people involved were punished, I think. Personally I think what they did was really stupid, but thats just me.
Yeah but that's assuming that every single person that broke curfew was commiting a serious offense. I definitely don't know first-hand, but I'm pretty sure NOT everyone was drinking/drunk. I agree with you chan, that punishment is absolutely necessary, but taking away their privilege to display leadership? Also I heard something about sending everyone involved to an Alcoholics Anonymous program or something, which is dumb. I dunno, we need someone who was there to tell us what actually happened.
No one is getting sent to AA. Sam Morse might be going to an Outward Bound Program, that's it. They do deserve to be punished and the six that were not involved can stil TA and captain. And everyone else can get their privledgs back second semester.
also. Imagine working so hard for your kids to go on the french trip. all of the money and energy spent helping them have an amazing free vacation. I would be pissed and sad and want them to understand the consequences.
