Would mushrooms count as a vegetable serving? (i.e. 4 oz of mushrooms lightly sauteed in a little olive oil and balsamic vinegar, as a side dish)

Yeah, even though they're not as nutritious as say, bell peppers or spinach or whatever, I'd still count them as a vegetable.

Not a silly question IMO as mushrooms *aren't* vegetables! I tend to think of them as meat substitutes more than vegetables, but they're free foods like vegetables. But yeah, I would accept them as counting toward the fruit/veg daily tally.
