Scotland: Day 8: Peebles

Today was quite uneventful. My mom had a toothache, so she went to the dentist. While she was there, the rest of the family went to the tourist office and booked a 2-day stay at a Bed & Breakfast in Fionnphort for next Tuesday and Wednesday, where we will stay while visiting Iona. Scotland: Day 7: Peebles

Today for the most part was pretty uneventful because not much is open on Sundays. My parents went to church this morning but me and my brother stayed home and just hung out. Scotland: Day 6: Edinburgh and Penicuik

So today was our first venture into Edinburgh. We left over an hour later that planned (as usual) and drove to Penicuik, where we caught the bus the rest of the way into Edinburgh. Scotland: Day 5: Traquair House and "Ex-Patriot" Dinner

Today we got a late start, as usual, and then headed over to Traquair House. Its the oldest continually inhabited building in Scotland, and it was built sometime around the year 1200. 27 kings have stayed there over the years. Scotland: Day 4: Galashiels and Kailzie Gardens

The first thing we did today was drive to a town called Galashiels. It is probably the largest town/city in this area South of Edinburgh. I just love the way people talk over here, so I thought I'd share with you some of the very Brittish things they say:

* "Cheers" -- goodbye
* "Love" as in "There ya are, Love" and "Good day, Love"
* "Boot" and "Bonnet" = Trunk and Hood of the car
* "Chips" (French fries)
* I think chips (like pringles) are called "crispies"
* "Windscreen" (windshield)

Today we spent exploring the little town we're staying in . Its called Peebles. We walked along the Tweed River on the way into town. Its beautiful and theres a park on the opposite bank from us. Scotland: Day 2: Pentland Hills

Today we went "hill-walking" in the Pentland Hills. They're about 20 minutes from the house. While we were there my camera completely died so I had to share my dad's with him. When we got to Peebles, we dropped our stuff off at the house, went grocery shopping, and then unpacked. We ate dinner and now I'm here.
