Last night's LM.C ~Go to the 5th Anniversary Final~ Rock the Party 2012 concert at Budokan was so much fun! This was a big deal for the band because it was LM.C's first time performing at Budokan. They did a great job!
A pic of my outfit because V wanted to see what I was wearing. It reminds me of LM.C's look for "Punky Heart", which is part of why I decided to wear it.
Outside of Budokan.
I got to Budokan a little bit before doors opened. I bought the tour pamphlet then walked to the tiny restaurant next to Budokan. I bought an orange roll and sat outside, people watching while I ate it. There were quite a few Aiji and Maya cosplayers walking around, so I enjoyed looking at their outfits. Shortly after that they opened the doors to Budokan. I went in and found my seat, way up on the 2nd floor. Despite being up pretty high, I still had a really nice view of everything. The stage was decorated in LM.C style, complete with bunny ears and spiked collars on each side. Before the show started, Denki-Man appeared on either side of the stage and inflated the rabbit ears.
Then the lights went down. Maya and Aiji made their appearance from the back of Budokan and walked up to the stage at the end of the catwalk. I liked how their 5th anniversary outfits were a throwback to their debut outfits. The band's first song was a new untitled song. After that, I can't remember the order of most of the songs (orz), but everything was so fun and happy. Maya was adorakable as always. I distinctly remember him dropping his mic during the second song and quickly picking it up as if no one had seen him drop it. Aiji was awesome as always. He sticks to the background a little more though. I'm always like, "Aiji, get up there! I want to see more of you!".
The boys brought everyone into their own colorful world with their performance. The stage and all the lights were so colorful. There were lots of really cool light effects during the show. During the slower songs, there were these beautiful little lights that looked like fireflies or fairy lights that changed colors as they were projected. There were also lights that looked like a starry sky. During a couple of the slower songs (like "88"), fans held up blue light sticks and waved them. It was really beautiful looking. Maya had the audience sing parts of "88". Things got a bit more silly during songs like "Edo Funk", when the band dressed in happi coats and a bunch of Denki clones led the crowd in furitsuke hand movements. I tried to keep up, but it got too complicated for me lol. During one of the other upbeat songs (I can't remember which one ^_^;), giant LM.C balloons were released into the audience for fans to bat around. I loved when the band played "Rock the LM.C"! It's always been one of my favorite LM.C songs and the audience always gets so pumped when they perform it. There were several MCs throughout the concert, usually with just Maya talking. He's such a cutie, but sometimes it can be a little hard for me to understand his quirky ways of talking. Throughout the night he kept saying that everything was「最高」(the best). During the long MC, fans started calling for Aiji to talk, so he finally did. He thanked us and echoed Maya in saying that the night really was 最高. He said that despite the fact that he's played Budokan 16 times before (I'm assuming he's talking about when he was in Pierrot) it still makes him nervous. Aww. The band ended things by performing "Punky Heart", another one of my personal favorite songs. They then took a bit of time to thank us and say their goodbyes. An instrumental version of "Hoshi no Arika" was playing quietly in the background. When Maya and Aiji paused in their talking the whole audience started singing the song to them. It was a beautiful moment, hearing everyone singing together and watching the boys tear up as they took it all in. Definitely my favorite part of the night.
After the band left the stage, a video was played announcing the release of a new single "Ah Hah!" in Feb., a new album called "Strong Pop" in April, and tour dates for Japan and Europe! I definitely can't wait for more LM.C! Sometimes my love of them gets overshadowed by my love for other bands, but I really do love LM.C's style. I love some good, dark J-rock just as much as the next fan, but LM.C's positive upbeat music and funky style makes me really happy. Keep on rocking the LM.C, boys~
Now to start getting ready for concert number 2, tonight's exist+trace concert! Can't wait to see those girls again~
