Last night's exist trace concert was great! It was definitely worth going to another one of their shows!

Last night's show was in Meguro at Rockmaykan. It was cool to see a show there because Rockmaykan is famed in the visual-kei scene for giving bands like X Japan and Luna Sea their start. The venue's definitely on the smallish side and set up kind of oddly. There's standing room in front and the very back, and then there's about half a dozen rows of movie theater type seats in the middle. I actually ended up in the seats near the middle, on the right side of the venue. I was in the B group of tickets, so I wouldn't have gotten a seat, but a bit after I arrived at the venue I saw Tomonori and Aki, who I met at the last exist trace concert. I talked with them for a while. When it was time to go in the venue, Tomonori had a really good ticket number and got to go in way before Aki and I did. He was able to grab seats for the three of us. He even made sure that they were on Omi's side because we had been talking about how Omi was my favorite. When I got in the venue, he offered me a seat, but told me to go over to the standing area if I wanted. He advised me to take the seat though because he's been to a number of shows at Rock Maykan and he said stuff can get pretty crazy up front. By the time I was able to go in the venue, I wouldn't have gotten very much closer if I hadn't taken the seat anyways, so I took his advice. It ended up working well because it gave me a place to put my bag and coat during the show (because Rock Maykan doesn't have coin lockers). It was also convenient because I could hold onto the seat in front of me for support while headbanging. :Db

The countdown started and it was time for the show to begin! The band started off with "Daybreak~13月の色彩~" again. I love the song and it's a great show opener. The band was in fine form last night. There were a couple little changes from the previous show. Before "リトル・メアリー" a screen was pulled in front of the stage and an instrumental clip from an old black and white movie of a woman being poisoned at a ball was played. Then the curtain was pulled away and the band came out in their masquerade outfits like last time. Omi and Miko even performed their waltz together again, which made me really happy. The next song was "Kiss in the Dark" and Jyou wore a different sexy dress this time. She looked gorgeous in a Chinese style white and red dress and she carried a red feathered fan. At one point during the song, she threw off her gloves and couldn't find them again for the rest of the live lol. During one of the MCs she talked about the members' New Year's resolutions (though I couldn't understand most of them very well) and talked about Miko accidentally shutting the door on her during rehearsal. I think at one point she also said something about Miko looking like a bunny. Miko actually does look a bit like an adorable bunny lol. Also, here's my obligatory sentence about how hot Omi is. I had a pretty decent view of her during this show too, so I was pleased.
Of course, the show was so awesome that we called the band back for an encore. Jyou did a longer MC and introduced each of the members. Since it was the first live of the New Year, we got each of the band members to do an MC, even the members who don't usually talk much like Naoto and Omi. Omi seemed kind of shy about doing an MC, but she gave in when we started chanting her name and told us that she loved us. The encore was pretty long this time, which made me happy. We actually got to hear "liquid" twice. The first time, near the end of the song there was a mishap and Mally had to stop drumming. She looked sheepish, but we all shouted our love for her. Then Jyou asked us if we wanted to try again, so they played "liquid" for a second time and Mally hit everything perfect and harder than ever. To correspond with this, we also headbanged even harder. It was a great feeling. There also was a special event during the encore. Members of the fan club had been able to request three songs that they wanted the band to play during the live. The three requests that the band played were "海の雫", "Reprologue", and "Cradle". I'd never heard "Cradle" performed live before. It's such a gorgeous song. The band ended the live the same way as last time, by asking us all to hold hands and jump in unison. Omi and Miko were the last ones off the stage and Omi gave Miko a kiss on the cheek. It was a good end to another great live.

After the show, I went with Aki and Tomonori to get a little bit to eat because none of us had had a very filling dinner. We ended up at a nearby cafe and chatted for a little while over coffee and pastries. It was fun to actually have people to hang out with during the concert (most of my friends aren't super into J-rock, so I usually fly solo at most of the concerts I go to here in Japan). Aki and Tomonori are also into old school J-rock (I think they're both in their 30s, so they would've been around for some of the earlier days of visual-kei). They're planning on going to a Buck-Tick live and asked if I want to go, too. I haven't listened to much Buck-Tick at all, but depending on when the concert is and how much tickets are, I might go. I think it'd be fun. And even if I don't go, I think I'll see Aki and Tomonori at more exist trace shows. 'Cause I do want to go to go to more exist trace shows as long as I'm in Japan. It's my goal to eventually make my way up near the front of the stage during one of the shows! I want to see my favorite girls as close as possible~

Now to save up my strength for the GazettE concert this weekend! I need to be in top shape, so I can really rock out at their show.

concert, japan, exist trace
