...well to each his own. I wouldn't want to live there either but I wouldn't want to live in most places I'm not already at. If you are looking to buy your first home, can't afford a big downpayment and can commute, it would be a good place....like every dang town around here it too is growing by leaps and bounds, soon to be cookie-cutter like everywhere else.

And some people like that po-dunk hole in the wall backwoods feel (though Deland is by far that. Try Cassia or Altoona, or Astaluta whatever).

And you are sure there were no Pawn Shops along 17?!?

We actually didn't go on 17, we took 95 to SR44 and then to downtown deland, we were only on 17 for about 8 seconds.
