[Alex hears the crash and he doesn't get up immediately--rather he counts to ten before anything. A pause and he walks into the room, doesn't say anything. He's taking a seat behind Dick, back to back but not touching. He doesn't know what to say in this situation, doesn't know how to... react, not right now.]

[notasidedick]

[Dick looks over at Alex for a minute before looking back at the wall in front of him.] ...Sorry. [He isn't sure why he's apologizing. His brothers were terminated. He was the one upset. But he did just make a mess of the room.] I'll clean it up in a minute.

[faultlesscon]

[He shakes his head, but turns to look at Dick. Reaching out for a moment, it looks as if he's about to slap Dick's wrists but instead he settles a hand on the other, takes in a breath.] You don't have to.

[A pause.] ... You're probably going to hear it a lot, but I'm sorry.

[notasidedick]

[He holds onto Alex's hand gently. It's a little reassuring.]

I know. I'm expecting it. [It just doesn't make it any less painful. Not at the moment.] It's...It's going to be a long day. That's all.

[The sensors in Alex's mind say he should pull away because it's physical contact; Instead he keeps still and nods in agreement, ignores the tightening in his chest, the tension in his muscles.]

You're not alone, no matter what happens. [No matter who they take away.] ... Damian won't show up on the list.

[Dick feels the tension though and immediately lets go to pull away. It's not like he wants to make Alex feel more awkward.]

I know...I just wish I could contact him somehow. I can't.

[Alex is looking down when it happened--he's a little ashamed of the fact that he doesn't enjoy contact if it's not his fist connecting with someone's face.]

Give him time. He's your Robin, isn't he? [He takes in a breath.] I'm here if you need anything--others are too.

[Dick just thinks that Alex doesn't feel comfortable enough with physical contact with him.]

Yeah. He'll probably be back. [Eventually.] I know. Thanks. I mean, it really means a lot. I'm just a little numb right now.

Understandable. [He shakes his head at the thanks, keeps quiet and just. He hates himself a little more for not being able to do much past this.

So just have a hug, Dick--not tense or anything like that. It's awkward, like a newborn learning how to talk but not quite. It's just... Alex.]

[He's always a little surprised when Alex initiates any physical contact. But he hugs the other back quietly.] Thanks...I...I really miss them already.

[faultlesscon]

[Staying there. Just for a few moments before he falls back and sits again, knees drawn up.] Don't think me for any of this--I'm doing it because I want to.

It's fine to miss them. [A pause.] Sounds cruel, but it doesn't mean that you can give up yet.

[Dick is watching his 'berry flitter across the room as it bumps into walls and objects. His eyes are unfocused though, so he isn't apparently paying attention in all honesty.]

I'm thanking you because I appreciate it.

I just need some time. I'll be better. [Eventually.]

[Alex's own 'berry is rebelling on the rooftop, so he's not even going to try and get it back at this point. Let's just not talk about it.]

You know where to find me-- any of us, really. [A pause.] Just don't shut us out, alright?

[notasidedick]

[Not even gonna ask how his 'berry was able to get to the rooftop so quickly. Good job Alex. Good job.]

I know-[Would he do the same thing when Donna died? When he let Blockbuster get killed? Hm...] I'll try not to. [At least it's an attempt of some kind.]

[You know, he finished reading observations and then the stupid thing decided it was time to break free. You'll find Alex on the roof later, don't worry.]

... That's a start. [He reaches out and pats the other on the shoulder, just weakly.] You want me to stay here?

[Guess his 'berry wanted to be free and smell the fresh air or something. Alex, you must hate your life a little more.]

Only if you want to. I honestly don't know right now. I just want things to stop for a minute so I can get my mind together.
