Emilia Galmar [video]

[Emilia is holding the faciliberry up to her scandalised face. Behind her, the recreation area stretches out towards the distant entrances. The observant few might notice her collar is now etched with 12A]

I need some tall men to the bookshelves straight away. Children, don't come in yet, the Doctors are trying to corrupt you.

[He's doing something he barely got to do last week, eat properly.]

What's wrong with the bookshelves? I can come by as soon as I finish eating a bit. Did they update the books or something? [Corrupt? Why does he think that the answer he'll get will be kind of funny if not a little worrisome.]

The usual books are all here, but they've added more shelves. They've put in a bookcase of, of [She can hardly bring herself to say the word] pornography.

[Well he thought right then. He does his best not to laugh. It's not like he'd want kids to read them after all. Sure, he probably will since reading material was reading material. Even trashy romance novels.]

I assume you want help moving them? Give me ten minutes and I'll help you with that.

[He gets a slight glare. She's a teacher, sir, she can tell when giggles are being stifled. But she's visibly grateful once the offer is made]

Thank you. We've got to be quick and get them out of eye line before they all realise what's there.

[He can't help it. He hasn't been able to even so much smile all week. He's making it up now by being more childish then usual.]

No problem. I just want to eat now that I feel like I can. I'll see you in ten at the shelves.

[True to his words, he arrives ten minutes later. He had eaten and redressed the bandages on his arms before he came down.] How many shelves are we talking about exactly?

[Emilia's been busy, knocking out the usual books from the highest shelves she can reach. She points to the end shelves]

That entire bookcase. Hurry, put the low ones on the shelf I cleared so I can put these in their place.

[He grins. She's got quite a bit of energy. He starts replacing the books from the other shelf to where she's cleared some space to put them.]

I guess Val thought it would be funny to update our shelves in the worst way possible.

[She grabs a pile of 'safe' books from the floor and starts filling up the gaps he makes, avoiding looking at the new books]

Even our reading material isn't safe! If these had been published back home people would be arrested for it and rightly so.

Oh? Your time must be a little farther back then mine, since most of the material they had here already are common for us. But I guess society did get pretty lax about what gets plublished nowadays.

[He's starting to clear up the higher rows now.]

Eighteen ninety-five. If you think this filth is normal, you must be nearer the other end of the twentieth century.

You've guessed pretty accurately then. That's right.

[He's going to jump up onto the top of the shelves. It's easier to get the top rows then to reach up. Plus his arms would surely appreciate this more.] Hand me some books so I can fill these up please.

[She passes them up as he asks, keeping her face averted so she doesn't glance at the covers.]

I've had people from your era try to convince me all sorts of depravities are normal. I was half afraid anyone from your time would think these perfectly reasonable educational tools for the young.

[He shelves them as soon as she hands them to him. He finds it kind of cute she's determined to not even look at the books.]

Well, I'm not going to convince you, but we do use some of the reading material in schools I believe.

What?!

[Back to the incredibly scandalised face. She thrusts a book at him, illustrated with a woman's lower stomach crossed by slim ropes]

In what sort of society is "The Erotic Bondage Handbook" suitable for schools? What happened to mathematics and Latin?!

[He catches it quickly and places it on the shelf.]

I...uh meant the books already here. Not these new, trashy things we've apparently received.

I can't say the same for maybe colleges, but I dropped out of college.

[She flushes, embarrassed she'd actually said that title out loud when she didn't have to. The books come up to Dick faster and more vigorously]

I haven't attended college, but I can't imagine any course that'd need textbooks like that.

Anyway, just because we're touching them doesn't mean we have to talk about them. Where are you from?
