[Just groaning here in his room. He had almost escaped it. Almost. But still. A part of him is happy, okay a big part of him is happy. He gets to celebrate his birthday with family and friends. Opening the door and stepping out.]

And where've you been hiding the alcohol? [Not that he wants any.]

[The moment Harry steps out Sirius is draping an arm over his shoulders and bringing him further into the room.]

We've had it stockpiled since that one week. Come blow out your three hundred and twenty-seven candles. [Even though the number is still fourteen.]

Three hundred and twenty-seven will take a lot of breath, mate. [James is holding the cake, bringing it too close to Harry's face, lit candles and all]

[Dragged in. Though he was quite fine taking it all in from his spot at his door.]

Well, I'm glad you all thought enough to knock it back to a reasonable number. More might set off the sprinklers and take care of it for me. [But he just grins and takes a breath, blowing the candles out for the first time ever really.]

[He can take it all in later, they'll leave it up all week long just for him.]

Only because there wasn't any room for all the candles so we rounded it down to fourteen. [Thankfully they are not trick candles - not this year anyway.] Happy birthday, Harry. [And have a hair ruffle.]

Happy Birthday. You know we've got presents for you. [Remus pipes up from his seat on the couch, smiling gently]

Brilliant presents, for what we had to work with. Good thing I got that memory, don't you think? Can't just let a fourteenth fly by! [James takes the cake away to the table, setting it alongside the presents, one that looks like a book and another that looks too much like a broom]

Thanks for that. [Ducking his head a little under the ruffles, looking at Remus with a grin.] Thanks. You guys didn't have to get presents, this was enough.

[Sheepish look at that.] I was going to say something. Eventually.

After your birthday, probably. [Remus returns the smile, holding out one more present, smaller and wrapped very neatly] And of course we had to get presents. All birthdays require presents. And James didn't even get wrapped up in Spellotape this time.

Really, Harry. Your father's all for flaunting his upcoming birthday - you could learn from him. [A huge grin and he takes a sip of his alcohol.]

Presents are a birthday necessity. Besides, what kind of family would we be if we didn't get you something?

Spellotape? [Doesn't sound like a story he's yet heard, moving to sit on the couch next to Remus with a small thanks and takes the package.] I already got one that I didn't want and there's no way to return it. [Reference to Malfoy? Yes.]

Same family I'm happy to have, really. The Dursley's never gave me presents, even the Christmas ones aren't more than a toothpick or a tissue. I've never gotten to celebrate it before.

Never? [This is Remus looking... appropriately scandalized at that fact. And a little confused. James hasn't quite told them the whole future of things yet] And toothpicks are an awful birthday present. Unless you've a penchant for getting food stuck in your teeth.

Now, you might want to open that now before it melts. [Harry will find what looks like normal chocolate in the package]

I can tell you, ours are better than that. [James didn't even know that that was the extent of it, but he hides it with a smile] Far better, though not if you want to blow your nose of get bits out of your teeth.

They don't like me much. [It gets a shrug out of Harry, easily dismissing the topic as he unwraps the melting prone gift.] Can't say that sounds comfortable, I'd rather keep my face the way it is.

[And chocolate! Grins a bit, hasn't had this luxury item in a while.] Thanks, Remus. This from that doll area?

Mmhm. It's enchanted with a Warming Charm to be a little more like wizarding chocolate. There's a small Cheering Charm on it as well.
