[Joshua turns on the feed, smiling at the camera. He's flexing his wings, feeling ridiculously proud of them.]

Oh I just had to show these off. Aren't they gorgeous? [They're a dark gray near his body, fading into a lighter gray at the tips. They don't reach completely white.] My oh my, I wonder what these colors mean ( Read more... )

it's supposed to be your true colors.

Well I suppose you would whole-heartedly agree with the color choice, then? What color are yours, pure virgin white?

not completely. [Cause they should be all black in her opinion.] They are. But there's a slight hint of gray on the tips.

Ooh, not exactly the pure white virgin we think we are, then? You aren't hiding anything that could possibly be... corrupt about yourself, are you?

i never said i was. but i'm more pure than you are. i care about others when you only care about yourself.

judging by your wing though, maybe you're hiding a nice side.

You know, contrary to what little knowledge you possess, I am a good guy. I simply don't care much for people I'm never going to see again once I return home, people who are going to be little more than a fleeting dream to me.

That is, I didn't care. I'm beginning to realize my situation is much more permanent than I previously thought, and that many of the people here are quite interesting to talk to. And of course my partner unexpectedly showed up along with me. It seems like he'll only stay on good terms with me so long as I'm on relatively good terms with everyone else.

I still don't like you, though. You think far too black and white.

oh so you're finally seeing what i've told you from the very start? good to know that you actually listen, even though it takes you months.

i highly doubt you know me well enough to how how i think.

Let's just say these collars are more of a nuisance than I thought. I truly believed my powers were sufficient to escape within a small time period~

And your wings, as well as your attitude, do tell me enough. You don't seem to be used to there being a "gray" area of morality. Granted I think this gray is a bit too dark on me.

and what would that gray area be then? what am i missing?

The gray area of "greater good" and "lesser evil", the impossible decision to do something harmful and destructive, but necessary, to save a great number of people.

To sacrifice the lives of the few to save the many. That's the gray area you're missing.

or maybe it's saving a life of a person you thought you were going to kill.

aang taught me that.

i have ideals, but i'm not against giving people chances.

What happens when you give people that chance, even if they don't deserve it, and they abuse it? What happens when they fail you, and become a threat once more?

i'm not going to give chance after chance.

So you admit that you would be rid of someone, or many someones, if they continue to be a threat after you grant them a chance at changing?
