Pointy Little Dagger

You’ve had enough of the pain, enough of the anguish
You hold the dagger ready to pierce you heart
In the reflection of the metal you see your entire life
All the sweat, blood, and tears you’re about to part
You see your dreams so very far out of grasp
Everything you’ve ever wished for will be gone
The hope that kept you going on for so long will be lost
Vanished, washed away in a crimson pond
You see your memories, good and bad, times of mad happy and sad
You see the remembrance of the people you’ve held so dear
Your friends, your family once so close and loving
You now find are missing, no where near
Tears leak out the corners of your eyes
Oh how bad do you wish they were with you here
Your heart pace quickens, you can feel the point poking you
It’s so very easy to just pull it in, yet so hard you are frozen with fear
You take a deep breathe; it’s too late to turn back now
Your hands tremble but you must not stagger
Not when your life, your dreams, your soul, your essence…
Is hanging in the balance, on the tip of a pointy little dagger

Author's Notes
I wrote this in junior high when I was twelve/thirteen.  I was very depressed then, and thought gothic poetry (Emo didn't exist yet) was cool. I tried to mimic that gothyness.  Actually this is one of four poems I wrote all with in the same week while I was home sick. This was the one of the two that I was truly inspired to write and was proud of and happy with the way it came out.   This was the second one I wrote. I realize NOW that it sucks and I was too young and amateurish (still am) but looking back I think It was the best one of the four.
