Ambercon Games

I got six of my first choices, and the other two were second choices, which is cool. What's odd is that, according to the online game book, there's at least one case where I wound up in my second choice game, but my first choice game isn't full ( Read more... )

Sadly, it appears that we have no games together. :(

And I think there have been a few people who have been in that situation--getting second choices when there are first choice slots available. My only guess is that it was so that the game you ended up in had enough players to run?

That's what I was wondering. And in this particular slot, there wasn't that much difference for me between my three choices in terms of my desire to play in them - they all sounded pretty much equally good. But if that's what happened, I'm very annoyed that I wasn't *asked* first. Especially since there are other slots where getting bumped to my second choice would have really bothered me. It winds up encouraging people not to list alternate choices unless they don't mind getting bumped.

Huh; I wouldn't expect to have been asked. I did feel misty-eyed about the previous system this year: I missed being about to flag how much you cared about the first-choice game vs the others. There were slots where I would have put an "8 - any of these are fine", and seems to me that would have made the game sorting job easier.

Also, yay! Dashing Blades! Have we been in Blades games together yet?

I was sad when Riddles got shifted to slot 7 so it conflicted with a game I was running. Hope you all find Amber and glory and have a tea party there.

I'm not in any Kindred games, :(. On a vaguely related note, I was a bit daunted by the "Doom of Averoigne" title when I saw it; how would that even be pronounced? And then I thought, "do it as snottily French as you can!" and it made sense.

There's a "Notes" section for each slot where you can tell the schedulers how important your choices for that slot are to you. Since it's free-text instead of having one each of "1" through "8" across the con, you've got a lot of flexibility in how you explain things, e.g. "I don't really care between game A and game K, but game D is a very distant third choice for me so only do it if absolutely necessary."

Does no one take slot 8 seriously?
