2 down, 10 to go!

I survived the first unit! Yay! Two weeks down, ten to go. I'm doing pretty good in my classes, got my papers back from CJ and SFS and both received A's. I'm surprised I scored max on my CJ paper considering I basically blasted the Criminal Justice System and gave all the reasons why it was NOT a strong institution of control. The instructor commented on it saying "Very good insight into the system", my jaw dropped. I had basically said our justice system wasn't worth the shit in the city sewer system because of all the in-fighting. Oh well. Got a good grade, that's all that counts! My teams are a pain in the ass, not that I have a problem with the work, it's just the teams I'm in. We are all assigned into teams and have to complete a team project by the end of the unit (which is two weeks long), the team projects were due tonight (Sunday 12:01am cst). In one class, no one had written a thing for the team project by Thursday. So I email my instructor asking for some advice, he said:

"Sorry I missed your email last night--this issue arises very often. Typically it is a matter of people just putting off work until the last minute. I would suggest you taking the lead and emailing your team to try to get them on the ball. Then, if there is no response, do as much as you can, and I will take all of that into account when grading.

If you choose to email your team, just copy me on the "send to" list. Sound good?"

Why do I get thrust in leading positions? I HATE leading but for some reason its the position I always end up being in. *glaring at D for the whole CW thing* ;-)

So I sent out an email, kinda putting a guilt trip on the other members, inadvertently I assure you ;-) Then FINALLY there's some action going on the board. At first, there was only two of us, then eventually the other three team members jumped on board to go through the code of ethics of Sociology, Anthropology and Psychology and compare and answer questions about each one. I honestly didn't think we'd have the time to do it but lo' and behold, we got it together and got the work done in the nick of time! *WHEW* I think this is going to be an awesome team.

In my other two classes, hardly anything has been done for team projects. Its so bad with ALL the teams that both instructors gave us all extra time to complete them. An assignment for one team is to figure out who would be the most likely victims of crime and if there's a correlation between those who fear crime and those who become victims and what can be done to reduce the fear or crime. Well, all those are fairly easy to answer so I wrote about a page worth of text to answer all those and let our team leader (which isn't me, YAY!) gather and put into the final report. Three of us have done what was asked, the team leader isn't doing anything but emailing everyone wanting to how to do this and that and everything else. ARGH! The instructor gave us one more week to finish up the project.

In the last class the team has to write up a Team Policy. Even I'm lost on this. But at least I posted an outline our team leader could use to start on the project. Which is all well and good, but who the hell is our team leader? And where the hell is everyone else's input? So far, two other people have posted substantial comments and the rest of the team just seems to be blabbering at the mouth. We got an additional two weeks to finish this project.

Quizzes: I took all three quizzes today.

37 for 40 in SYS
Got 10 for 10 in CJ
Got 20 for 20 in SFS

Not bad, so far. I'm just dreading the grades for the team assignments. However, I think I did good in the area for participation, I was all over those boards in all my classes and wrote more than two lines in each post with correct spelling and punctuation, which is more than I can say for a lot of the other people.

And that's that!
