Retrace 61 Translation Summary (Somewhat select scenes only)
I usually do this only for Tumblr and my Facebook friends, but figured I'd post it here. To those who can't wait for scanlations, this is a translation of sorts in paragraph/narrative form. A few parts I can't understand have no translation.
First page. Scene of Elli's death. He's still somewhat alive at this scene. Vince comments there are no people in this world that would ever consider denying their Chain, especially since this means death for the contractor. Yet he commends Elliot for choosing this path. He wonders if it was for Oz, or if it was for his valet (Leo). "You could have relied on me a little... You're being so cool, Elliot." - Vince.
Pandora Hearts: Retrace 61: Demios
At Pandora, Duchess Rainsworth and Duke Barma share the news to Oz and company that Duke Bernard Nightray has been killed, in a fashion wherein he was beheaded. Only little time has passed since the Duke's death, says Duchess Rainsworth, that it's impossible for Elliot to have been the one who killed him. Barma tells them to think what exactly the headhunter is. Basically (rough tl) he says that it's someone who beheads people of the Nightray family. Oz then says that, in other words, as long as this condition is met, anyone can be the headhunter. In another scene, while Barma additionally wonders if the one who killed Duke Nightray was copying Humpty Dumpty, or if it was Humpty himself who was copying the Queen of Hearts, Vincent goes of killing more Pandora Members that get in the way of him and Leo.
Another Pandora member barges into where Oz and the others are, yelling that Leo has been taken away, people killed, etc. all in the hands of Vincent Nightray.
Back where the Pandora members were killed, one apparently survived while Vince and Leo are nowhere to be found. A couple more arrive and are confirming if it was really Vince, since they know Yamane/Dormouse, Vince's Chain, isn't capable of such powers. The still terrified survivor says that it wasn't Yamane, but it was the Queen Headhunter or something.
Outside, Vince and Leo are riding a carriage. Vince says that "Queen of the Heart" was a name he came up for the Chain at the time he killed Fred Nightray. The real name of the Chain is Demios, he adds.
Leo: You're... the Headhunter...? But Elliot is... and Yamane is your...
Vince: Demios is my Chain via an illegal contract. I'm a double contractor.
(Wow, so you can have two at once? Cool). Long story short, Vince said after gathering info and such, that Duke Nightray had already noticed that Leo was the next successor of Glen Baskerville's soul.
Vince takes Leo to some mansion. Leo recognizes it as a mansion of the Nightray's, thinking that if it's so close, Pandora could easily capture the place. As Leo follows Vince into the mansion, he notices Zwei at some room, pouting and such.
Leo tries to continue the conversation. Glen is the enemy of Pandora right? If so, he's wondering, why is such a guy's soul within himself? Vince sneaks up behind him and says that his eyes can see this golden light that others cannot see, right? And that in his ears, he gets to hear someone's voice. Leo pushes him away. Vince continues and says that this light is the Abyss's power that is drifting around in this side of the world. The voices he hears are the previous Glens, Vince adds. Anyway, Vince gives him some clothes and tells him to get changed first.
After this Vince says something about Leo being hidden in the House of Fianna.
-oversummarized the part about Duke Nightray, sorry- At the end of this Vince says the Duke was the worst, nothing but trash. I'm getting the impression Duke Nightray planned everything, from the time the kids in Fianna got lost so Elli had to look for them, and the part where Elli would be an illegal contractor of Humpty. Anyway, it was at that time Vince went to the Duke and asked about the things he found out. When he started spouting nonsense about Nightray pride, and about how Elliot should be dedicated to that, etc., Vince snaps. He thinks "This guy's better off dead". He first beheads the Duke's guards with Demios, saying he murdered children and Elliot over something as worthless as the pride of the house. The Duke is surprised to see this new Chain. It turns out the real Headhunter IS Vincent, though it was a different case that Elliot just happened to kill of Ernest and Claude (Vince had already planned to kill them, Elliot just beat him to it). After that, it seems Vince was apparently going trigger happy with beheading anyone in the family that gets in Gilbert's way. At the time Break was accusing Elliot of being the Headhunter, he was down the stairs, beheading random people (without actually bringing Demios out, so it wasn't noticeable).
Since Pandora has somewhat dismissed Elli as the Headhunter, he declares that he can just kill the Duke off right now. The Duke yells something at him, but Vince counters back (not sure what they're talking about), and at the end Vince yells "It was all for myself!!" and beheads him.
Back at Elliot's death, Vince says to Elliot that he actually did like him. He says that Elliot was different from their other Nightray siblings. Because he was there, Gilbert was able to show a smile even within the Nightray mansion. He then says thank you to him.
Elliot mumbles something, and Vince kneels down to his body to listen. Elliot whispers something to him at the last of his breath. Vince smiles, assuring Elli that he'll deliver the message.
"Sorry, Leo." says Vincent to Leo. He says that's the message Elliot left him.
Leo shakes in the chair he's sitting on. "What was he thinking? He was dying there... and yet... what an idiot...!"
As Vince approaches, Leo coldly tells him to not approach him. Leo asks why Vince went out of his way to tell him this. What was his motive, and all that.
Vince smiles and crouches down before him. He says he wants Leo to obtain the Will of the Abyss, use its power, and erase Vincent from this world. He basically wants the existence of "Vincent Nightray" to be removed. So that his brother Gilbert may stay within that sunny place (at the time when Jack took them in), he wants to give to Gilbert a "world where he isn't there". As long as Leo will grant that wish, Vince will cater to his will and needs.
Leo says that they're just the same, because they exist, those important to them only get hurt. His tears flow down his cheeks, surprising Vince.
As Vince looks at him, extending his hand to him, Leo continues. "Then listen to my request then. First off, cut my hair with your scissors. I've grown tired... of always hiding."
Vince answers something similar to "As you wish" (了解致しました, ryoukai itashimashita, fans of Kuroshitsuji should be familiar with this). Vince is already touching Leo's face, thinking that his eyes are such a beautiful color. Etched in his eyes is the world that only he sees, the one that sees the golden lights.
Vince's full answer is this: "As you wish, My Lord - Leo Baskerville".
His eyes, they're like the darkness that swallows everything up.
"Those eyes shall change the world...!"
