Log: Fuji and Ryoma
Rating: NC-17 of course G!
Summary: Fuji's fire was taken by Mary, leaving him with little motivation to get it back. Ryoma pwns him helps him find a reason through the playing of tennis *gasp*. Continued from
here.
No characters can see this, etc &c.
Ryoma: *is sitting on the front porch waiting for Fuji, tapping one foot almost anxiously and looking back and forth down the street waiting*
Fuji: *wanders down Ryoma's street, curiously happy he's going to be playing a match with him because even though he's denying it, something feels like it's missing* *slides the gate open* Hi Echizen. ^_^. Lovely night for it.
Ryoma: *stands up and examines the sky* Very. *is also happy he's going to be playing Fuji, both because he's hoping it'll encourage him to get his fire back and because... well, it's Fuji* The court's in the back. Follow me.
Fuji: Mm. *is already feeling some excitement as he follows Ryoma out the back, knowing it will be a good match no matter what happens because it's Ryoma and well, Ryoma is good* Nice set-up. Do you play your dad often? *pulls out a racquet and tests the tension on the strings*
Ryoma: Hai. *already has his racket ready, and there's a bin of balls near the court all the time, so technically the only thing they're missing is Ponta, but he can get that later* Almost every day, or whenever we both feel like. *starts bouncing a ball up and down on the rim of his racket but catches it as they both approach the net* Which? positions his racket ready to spin it*
Fuji: ^_^ that must be interesting for you. Rough. *is not worried either way and watches as the racquet falls to smooth, before lifting open eyes to Ryoma's face* Serve or receive?
Ryoma: *smirks* I'll serve. *moves into position and grins when he's pretty sure Fuji can't see him doing so, takes a moment to bounce the ball in that way he does that just reeks of PWN and then it's TWISTO SERVE yay*
Fuji: Mm. *moves back to the baseline with a smile because he knows exactly what's coming from the look on Ryoma's face, and he doesn't disappoint* *gets his racquet on the ball but the serve is noticeably stronger since they last played and the return is only just in* Nice, Echizen.
Ryoma: *doesn't have time for a reply as he chases down the ball and hits it back* Same, senpai. *grins, because this is going to be good*
Fuji: *feels his smile get wider as they play, blood rushing when Ryoma pwns him with a Drive-u B only to counter with a Tsubame Gaeshi in the next play*
Ryoma: *can do nothing but let the ball go, but remembers how to seal the Tsubame Gaeshi and wonders if he'll be able to manipulate the game like that, or if Fuji will counter him in another* Hnn... 40-30. *figures it's worth a try and serves with new purpose*
Fuji: *watches as the ball flashes by, unable to get anywhere near it and he pushes down a small pang in his ribcage, meeting Ryoma's eyes across the net with a smirk* One game to love.
Ryoma: *smirks back but... is almost disappointed because the game lasted only ten minutes or so, and honestly, Fuji-senpai should've been able to return that last serve* Here. *hits a few balls to Fuji's side of the court*
Fuji: *catches said balls, feeling a little frustrated as he spins one and hits a disappearing serve that's technically perfect, yet still strangely lacking down the centre line*
Ryoma: *hasn't played against this serve yet, so when he goes to hit it he misses entirely* Hnn... interesting. *changes his grip and gives Fuji a look that clearly says that this won't end up lasting all that long, so he ought to take advantage of it while it does*
Fuji: Glad you approve ^_^. *grins openly in reply at the challenge in Ryoma's face and hits another, then another, waiting to see if he can break them*
Ryoma: *hasn't quite figured it out yet but on the third serve he grazes the ball with the side of his racket, sending it sailing sideways* *bites his lip hopes he can get this next one*
Fuji: *feels a little thrill when Ryoma gets his racquet to the ball and hits the next one even harder, knowing he can afford the time because it usually takes Ryoma a while to nut out his moves*
Ryoma: *makes contact with the ball, but misses the sweet spot entirely, but that's all right, because the ball is over the net by a long shot* Got it.
Fuji: *starts in surprise, rushing to meet the unexpected return and volley it down the line to win the game, but feeling unusually annoyed that his serve was broken so quickly* Hnn. *taps at the net cord thoughtfully with his racquet for a moment before making the call, glad to to feel the breeze at his neck*
Ryoma: *shakes his head, partly annoyed, partly amused, but mostly just grinning as he recognizes the look on Fuji's face and the way the breeze is blowing his hair* 1 game to 1, Fuji-senpai.
Fuji: *returns to the baseline, urging himself to be patient because really Ryoma shouldn't be pwning him so quickly, regardless of how happy he is to have his tennis back from... Sakuno-chan a_A*
Ryoma: *palms the ball dramatically and serves, all while pysching himself for the Hakugei he's assuming will be coming sometime during this game and already thinking of a way to counter it*
Fuji: *grins, knowing that Ryoma knows a Hakugei's coming, but fairly sure the breeze is strong enough to prevent him breaking it at least for a little while and he takes the chance when it comes, sweeping his racquet oh so gracefully across his body with a smirk*
Ryoma: *and here it comes, but Ryoma just lets the ball go over his head, lets it bounce back, because for all he hates Inui's data tennis, it's also true that Ryoma sometimes needs to collect data (though he'd be more likely to call it 'experience' or 'knowledge') on his opponents moves as well* Love fifteen. *returns to the baseline to serve - yes, he'll be able to get that ball next time, if he's quick enough*
Fuji: *returns the serve and they rally the ball back and forth, both looking for an opening and trying their best to seal the other until Ryoma wins his service game, and it goes with serve like that until it's 3-all and Fuji hit's another Hakugei on Ryoma's serve*
Ryoma: *is ready for it and moving back to the baseline to hopefully return it* ... *squints as the ball bounces and but is reading to return the already rapidly-rising ball by literally twisting his body around 180 degrees, giving the ball a monster spin as it flies past Fuji* Cyclone Shot. It works well on Hakugei, ne, Fuji-senpai? *smirks*
Fuji: A_A *is gobsmacked that his Hakugei was broken not only so quickly, but by a perfect and possibly new shot, but the adrenaline isn't coming... not more than what he already had, at any rate, and it's like he ~wants~ to feel something about it but he can't and so he grits his teeth, saying nothing and stalking back to the baseline for Ryoma's next serve* A_A
Ryoma: *smirk fades a little as he realizes that Fuji isn't happy - isn't even truly able to rise to the challenge, let alone reply* Hmm... *takes a ball from his pocket and starts to bounce it* Are you missing your fire, yet, senpai?
Fuji: *feels his frustration both soften a little at Ryoma's concern, and heighten as he realises that this just isn't going to work; that not only his Unicorn Attaaaack, Luck Dragon and Fawkes Return have been taken (oh Konomi-sensei), but that the motivation he already had to go all out during a match is gone too and it's Not A Good Thing... especially since playing Ryoma is usually more inspiring than most* Hnn... possibly. Serve again and we'll see.
Ryoma: *doesn't waste any time and serves - eventually the game ends, making the score 4-3 in Ryoma''s favor, and they switch courts* *teasingly* Passed you again.
Fuji: Mm. ^_^ *grits his teeth and hits another disappearing serve, trying to get around the block by thinking about how he'd felt when that woobie Kirihara had pwned Tachibana so badly (before he was woobie), when Jiroh had beaten Yuuta ♥ in 15 minutes (;_;) and speaking of Yuuta, when that camp bitch what's-his-name from St Rudolphs had destroyed his precious little brother's shoulder with Evil Match Techniques and even THAT surefire scenario was doing nothing but make him angry enough to miss hit the ball straight into the Echizen's fence*
Ryoma: O_O *stares at the fence for a while before turning back to Fuji* Are you all right, Fuji-senpai...?
Fuji: A_A... *blinks, realising that it's a lost cause even if it ~has~ renewed his determination torture Mizuki into the middle of next week* ^_^. No. No, I don't think I am, Echizen. *lets his racquet arm drop to his side* Seems I do miss my fire after all. Raincheck until I get it back? I still owe you a milkshake, too. ^_^
Ryoma: Mm. *goes to the net to shake Fuji's hand and meets his eyes* I told you you'd need it. A milkshake sounds pretty good right about now though.
Fuji: ^___^ And you were right. Thanks for... just, thanks. *smiles a Real Smile, meeting Ryoma's eyes in return before walking back to his tennis bag and putting his racquet away* Good. I want to hear about getting your tennis back.
Ryoma: *just nods, because of course Fuji is welcome, but winces later because as far as he's concerned, NO ONE needs to know exactly how he got his tennis back* You really don't, though. Trust me.
Fuji: ^_^ Oh but I do. We can look at my second clue first though, if you like. *pulls a piece of neatly folded paper out of his pocket that he just happens to have, even though he was totally not interested in getting his fire back, and reads the clue out loud*
I hope you don't mind hirsute lovers,
or a touch of slavery.
You should meet your homo brothers,
post-catastrophe.
a_A. Oh, Mary-san.
Ryoma: *blinks, and moves closer to read the clue over again, repeating it to himself beneath his breath* ...hm. This... doesn't sound good. If I tell you what I think it means, you can't say it out loud or you'll probably be teleported there or something, but... *sigh* Ever seen the movie 'Planet of the Apes', Fuji-senpai?
Fuji: Ah. No I haven't, although I've heard of it. *blinks for a second at the thought of apemen holding his next clue hostage and decides it better not to for the moment* It does make sense, I have to say. Thanks for the lead. I won't say anything out loud until after we have milkshakes, at least. Can't wrest clues from apes on an empty stomach. ^_^
Ryoma: *frowns* No, you can't. Your second clue is almost as bad as mine was. The... apes or whatever will probably try to enslave you.... *kind of half-wishes he could come along, but isn't sure if that would be a smart idea*
Fuji: Hnn. *thinks a little as they walk, wondering if there's any way he can prepare for this before going* What happens if they enslave me? *thinks about taking people with him but then he wouldn't want to put anyone in danger*
Ryoma: Hnn... dunno. They put you in a cage, I think, and you might have to befriend a few of them so they'll let you out. I don't remember the movie all that well. *shrugs* You should consider watching it before you go.
Fuji: I'd say that's a definite, yes. *makes a mental note to search for torrents later* So, anyway. What's this I hear about your tennis and Ryuzaki Sakuno?
Ryoma: ... *stops dead* Nngk. O__O *fakes a cough and continues walking, noting Fuji's amused smile with something less than joy* ...I can tell you. Though if we both lose our appetites it's going to be your fault, Fuji-senpai. *glares a little*
Fuji: ^____^
