Harry's comments about Quirrellmort are met by "one of the loudest silences Harry had ever heard." Was everyone speechless because a) they didn't know about Voldemort and the stone; b) they are just surprised Harry would talk back to Umbridge like that or c) something else. (At the end of PS/SS, Dumbledore says "What happened down in the dungeons between you and Professor Quirrell is a complete secret, so, naturally the whole school knows"... but what did they really know? If the whole school knew Voldemort was back then, it seems they'd have less trouble accepting that he is indeed back now.)

I think that it actually wasn't common knowledge that Voldemort was involved with the stone. Or rather, I'm sure that was mixed in with the rumors, but all the intelligent students knew that it wasn't possible. So the accepted version of rumors was probably that Harry stopped Quirrell from stealing some big magical thingy. In the first DA meeting, people seem impressed when Neville brings up the Philosopher's Stone, so I don't think what the magical thingy was made it into most of the rumors. Also, most people probably don't know how involved Ron and Hermione were, since they don't get the attention they did after the Second Task.
