Chapter 33 - Fight and Flight

Jul 04, 2005 23:09

The plan is on, although Harry has no idea what Hermione's plan is. She leads him and Umbridge into the forbidden forest, along a path that Harry knows (but Hermione doesn't) leads to a great big man-eating spider colony. He has no way to tell her and she continues on, making entirely too much noise. Soon, her plan is realized when the three of ( Read more... )

There's a lot of alliteration at the beginning of this chapter, and then it goes away. Has anyone seen a theory for that? Lots of doubles and a couple triples - foreshadowing repeats is all I can think of ( ... )

uh... Frankly, it was a bit dangerous to use a bogey hex, it's not something that really stop someone... i kinda was disapointed by that (though with ginny we are used to that). apart from that, you think the use of aliteration means a repeat? do you think it means the repeat in the dom or that harry won't be able to save hermione and that she dies, and then ron, and then neville, and then ginny......?

Ginny's bat bogey hex was the thing the twins respected the most about her, so I think it's formidable. Anything flapping all over your face could stop you, and you probably couldn't see very well.

do you think it means the repeat in the dom or that harry won't be able to save...

I really don't know what it means. I just see a lot of it in places and wonder what that's about.

see and I was hoping that this would be the last we would see of Umbridge! But people are hinting that she will be in the next book :( Oooh, how I dislike her!

Hermoine really disappointed me in this chapter, BUT she can get full of herself and this was just like her to think she had thought things through. But of course had not. I would have been insulted too!

It is too bad Haggar's brother can't be "normal" and live with other people, I would like to see that.

Granted, no one is more shocked when one of Hermione's plans goes bad than Hermione herself. :P

But, for seat-of-yer-pants strategizing, I thought she did okay. Besides, no one else seemed on the verge of anything.

Although, I can totally see Harry yelling "Charge!" and the other Gryffindors attacking Umbridge and the I.S. They'd have wiped the floors with them, too. :D

Her biggest mistake was to assume that the centaurs would be reasonable. Who would have guessed that not only would they be against helping humans, but that entering "their" forest uninvited would have severe consequences. It may help open her eyes to see that not all beings see things the same way, like house elves.

Was no one else absolutely terrified by the centaurs? Their behavior here was totally unexpected by me. I, of course, have no idea what the history of centaurs is. so, maybe this doesn't come to surprise to people more knowledgeable in mythical creatures. Were they really going to kill Harry and Hermione? And what in the world did they do to Umbridge?

The centaurs really scared the bejesus out of me. I have no idea what they did to Umbridge. I was surprised to find her in the Hospital Wing at the end of the book, though she did seem rather addled (which, IMO, was a good thing).

BTW, am I ahead on ACAD? I just finished reading Chapter 34 and am anxious to discuss it :D

No, you aren't ahead, our summarizer hasn't summarized Chapter 34 yet. I'd expect two posts tonight. I hope.
