I forgot!!!

Chapter 22: After the BurialHarry's really feeling the pressure to get the memory about the horocruxes from Slughorn as the chapter opens. Ron suggests that he use the "lucky potion." Though reluctant to use it (because he was saving it for sometime involving Ginny--hormone alert!!), he decides to take a swig ( Read more... )

OMG, I saw this chapter title and for a moment thought I'd missed the discussion regarding the rest of the book, and now we were at the end. Ack! I need to get my HBP back from my friend.

Okay, I know that a lot of people are going WTF over the portrayal of H/G's "Twu Wuv" in HBP, myself included, but I think I am convinced on the opinion that Harry/Ginny has not yet reached the point of true love just yet. I mean, he's charmed by what he sees of her personality, but he doesn't seem to know squat about her as a person. It's like he's hormone-driven throughout the entire year: from the monster, to the implications of using Felix Felicitus to get lucky (and yes, I mean that in the most teenage way possible). So, on this front, I can believe that H/G is, at this point, almost a realistic portrayal of a teenage relationship, just as much as Ron/Lavender is. At least, on Harry's side.

Slytherin!Harry! *squee*

That's pretty much the exact reason I wish JKR hadn't ever given that interview. Her version of the H/G relationship doesn't match up with what's in canon at the moment -- maybe she was giving away what will happen in the future. Which is bad form, imho, since that's a spoiler. But now we're all analyzing the book based off of author comments rather than letting it stand on it's own, and I think that's changed the tenor of discourse for the worse.

Here, here. She's always been so secretive about what was going to happen in the books that hadn't been written yet, and then with this one interview she essentially spilled the juicier plot points for Book 7. I mean, why give it up now? And yes, the Ginny she's written up to this point has nothing to do with the heroic persona she is apparently going to have in Book 7.

...Gee, the layout is different...

Hagrid is so cute - he really loves his pets. I behaved exactly like that when my cat went to the Big Cushion in the sky. And he apparently is losing small fortunes everyday. Is he doesn't care about the money, fine, but I still think that he should get it and give it to the school. Maybe the next orphan wouldn't have to show up in used robes.

Man, Slug just outdrank HAGRID the half-giant-and-drinker-from-hell! That man must be some sort of alcoholic wonder. *hugs him*

I love the drinking, I really do. But I can't stop wondering about how many drinks were offered to Harry this year in contrast with the previous. With all the growing up Harry did over the summer he must now look like an young adult - that's my personal explanation. It's lame, I know. But I only began drinking with my parents or, you know, real grown-ups when I was 19.

You know I absolutely loved the ending of this chapter. I know Harry uses his mother's death to his advantage, but he did it so oh well that he had ME crying. This series being all about the "boys of summer" (the Marauders), it was a relief to see that someone cared about Lily so much so that he would speak about her incessantly given any opportunity and cried over her death. I loved it.

"...being dead will have improved him a lot." I love Ron's sense of humor (and the twins' too. Where did Ginny get hers?) Finally Ron has the brilliant idea. I'm glad for him, but yeah, everything is weird in this book ( ... )

I was thinking about all the things that need to be done or wrapped up in the last book. I could see Felix making short work of finding and destroying Horcruxes.

There are a ton of things to be wrapped up, but Felix would be a SPD extradonaire if it gets trotted out again, imho, making the whole thing seem like a fairy tale. (Tho, since everything makes at least two go rounds in HP, it probably will show up at some point. And since Harry really hasn't learned a lot this year that could help him track down all the horcruxes, you're probably right...)
