I saw something strange today that I'd never seen before, while I was clicking through online law school application nonsense. I think I was looking for a deadline or something. Anyway, I can't even remember what school it was for, but on the application's ethnicity question, it offered all the usual choices but under Native American/American ( Read more... )

I went by Niko in Estonia, never by Nic. It was a localization of my name, kind of helped in the transition.

Zane doesn't work in Spanish, but I can't remember what name I did go by (I should have asked for Dios, in retrospect). I was Jean in French, but not Juan in Spanish.

In Italian I'd go for Giacomo, which is like Jack, but awesome sounding.
